Anyone else planning a surprise trip?

Sort of a surprise here! DDs (6 and almost 4) know we are going to WDW next month. But they DO NOT know that one set of grandparents and their cousins are going to meet us there. My MIL and I have been planning this since probably April or May. DDs are going to be SOOOOOO excited when we go to dinner, and there is everyone else!

Similiar situation here... my DH and DS(12) know about our trip next May to WDW, but my DS does NOT know that his grandmother, aunt and 2 cousins are coming also! He also does not know his best friend is coming as well! :rotfl: Right now, the plans are to have my mom at the airport with her car loaded with everyone's luggage, while my sis picks up her girls from their dad's house, telling them they are going to pick up a dear ol' aunt at the airport. For DS and his best friend, DH & I are just going to tell them that we're "taking daddy to the airport" because he too travels a lot and they will most definitely buy this excuse! LOL After being the last to arrive, my DH and I will have Disney backpacks for the kids to use as their carry-on bags, full of fun Disney stuff to do keep them occupied on the flight. :Pinkbounc

Hey!! Costa Mesa!! My brother lives in Costa Mesa!! And I used to work in the Imperial Bank building across from South Coast Plaza!

You know, I was deprived as a kid, wasn't I? :rotfl: No such thing as annual passes, we lived so close, yet we'd only go a couple of times a year. Yup, if I still lived there, I'd be going every weekend, too! I'm a little far from the mouse now, but I lived in OC for 28 years, and chose the username because I was born in Anaheim, just a couple of miles from DL.

Less than 11 hours til we leave and I swear this keeping it a secret is killing me. I got so excited a minute ago and I couldn't burst into the Mickey Mouse Club song and I felt ill, I actually gagged. I gotta get to bed soon so it can be tomorrow. :rotfl2:

and we still have 7 months to go!!! DH and I are surprising DD 11 and DS 8 with a spring break trip next March. We went last June and have said it would be a few more years until we can take trip number 2...they have no idea how busy Mom has been! I think we'll tell them we're heading to Indy for the weekend and spend the night in a hotel at the airport before our early morning flight. Then head to the airport, at which time they'll think we're going to Tampa to visit my sister. I wonder if they'll notice the Orlando flight info at the gate? :goodvibes

Dsis, DBIL(driving from Tampa) and my parents (flying from Chicago) will add to the surprise when they join us at the Pop! I figure this will be the only time my kids (only grandchildren)can do this with Grandma and Grandpa so we're going all out with a trip to La Nouba and some character meals. I wish I could make those PS's now though! So far all I have is the room..... Thanks for letting me share! I can't wait to see their reactions to all of the surprises!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

41 days to go until we hit the road! :moped: Must keep quiet, must keep quiet, must keep quiet.lol :rotfl:

Count me in on the surprise trip as well.
We are suprising the kids for Christmas. We'll be signing them out of school on 12/21 and telling them they have dentist appointments. Then when they get in the car we'll put in our Areosmith CD and say "Man this reminds me of the Rockin' Roller Coaster, should we go ride it? (it's the families favorite). Then it's off to the airport!!! :earseek:

That is awesome, love the dentist story! That is just about the worst place to get out of school to go! those kids are going to be bouncing around the car. :rotfl:

I just got back from surprising the kids and it was lots of fun. I told them I was "taking some time off and we were going to Chicago" which was all true...the airport is in Chicago and I took a couple of days off of work. I got them up at 3:30 in the morning and had them play a game that ended up with the message "How would you like to go to the happiest place on Earth today!" and at first they were just kind of quiet, stunned. Then they had to make sure I wasn't kidding, it took me awhile to convince them I wasn't. I had to show them the packed suitcases and disney reservation info. They loved it! It turned out to be a great trip!

I am planning a suprise trip for my 5yoa DD and our 2yoa DS. Dh knows all about it, but I am the consumate planner.

My dilema is very, very dear friends of ours (my daughters best friend and other mother) moved in July to New Hampshire which is about 8 hours from us. We have all been pretty sad missing each other so we decided that we were going to all go to WDW together. Originally, when they come down on 9/9 we were going to tell the kids that we are going together and give them each a paper link chain to cut down the days. Well, now that I am thinking about this I think it would be so cool if we didn't tell them what the chain was for and show up at their hotel room once we get there. Or even meet somewhere else on property, like infront of Buzz Lightyear whom they both are ga-ga over.

So for 2 5 year olds that truly miss and love each other which would you do? If it matters DD's best friend has never been to WDW and her best friend is a boy.

I am surprising my DH with a long weekend trip in December!! This will be our 1st time there during the Holidays and I am so excited!! :Pinkbounc The only thing I am worried about is when to tell him :confused3 .......he will need to take 2 days off from work, so I definitely can't wait till the last minute. His Birthday is exactly one month prior to when we leave. Im wondering if I should tell him then????? Any thoughts?

I am down to 26 days and I have still kept quiet! How are all my other planners doing with your surprise plans? I can't wait !! :Pinkbounc

I started a new Suprise!! thread not realizing this one existed...my apologies to the OP!

We too are surprising our girls for Christmas with a Disney land/sea vacation. Our first cruise and the girls first time at Disneyworld. They've been to Disneyland three times each and have said they just can't imagine WDW being bigger or better than DL! Well...they are going to find out!! :flower:

We are doing a scavenger hunt leading up to two boxes filled with planning DVD's, Disney pajamas, golden mouse ears, bracelets, brochures, park maps and jars filled with cooresponding Jelly-Bellies to the days until we leave so they can start their own countdown! I am excited beyond words to do this for them. It's going to be hard for me to get through the other gifts with my usual enthusiasm!! :rotfl:

So far so good here! I've had to be sly about getting DD9 to tell me which characters she'd like to eat with, finding her pal mickey/autograph book/disney shirts, and getting halloween costume ready (MNSSHP). But everything (except costume) is ready and don't need to mention any other disney stuff to her. We'll pick her up at school midday and head to the airport---won't tell her exactly what the surprise is until she figures it out! :cool1: We may even keep the MNSSHP and CRT meal a surprise until it happens....

It's been soooo hard keeping this from her!

So far so good! I won't be telling my DH until his Birthday rolls around in November! It has been so hard not to say anything!! I was having a hard time figuring out how to tell him, but I ended up getting an 8x8 scrapbook and made it so each pages reveals details of our trip. (Where we are staying, when we are leaving, having dinner in "The Castle", going to the Christmas Party, etc.) I did all this with scrapbook stickers and letters. It was so relaxing working on it and I know he will be completely clueless when I hand him the book with a huge smile on my face!! :goodvibes

We did a trip as a Christmas present for the following Feb. one year, which was a fun surprise, but of course once they opened the card I made for that, they were in on the planning...

This time is a TOTAL SURPRISE TRIP!:wizard:
I got an incredible DING fare from Southwest Air the other day, including a SW credit that was burning a hole in my pocket, and ended up booking a surprise early Christmas Dec.9-12th trip to WDW! It's just going to be me and the girls. DH has taken so much time off for me lately, he just cannot make this trip, but is the best hubby in the world  and will happily send his girls to WDW! princess: princess: princess:

We are also blessed to be going in Oct. as the kids have a Fri. and Mon. off school so they don't miss, and doing MNSSHP as a family, which the kids know about...hopefully this will make it easier for me to keep the secret, they think I'll only planning for Oct.!

So we'll make it a long weekend (taking one day off school on Monday) and we'll be going to MVMCP on Sun. 12/11! The girls have a 1/2 day of school the day we fly out, and the timing is perfect to drive straight to the airport from school. I'm going to try to keep it a secret until we pick them up and ask them what they want to do the rest of the afternoon...hey, let's go to Disney World! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cool1: :dancer: :thewave:

I'm so enjoying reading everyone's surprises! I hope we all can keep it :ssst:!

I am planning a surprise trip this Oct. for my DH's 30th bday. I am dying to talk to him about all the plans! Anyone else out there in the same boat and having a hard time staying quiet? 43 days to go! :hourglass

I'm planning a special surprise for my husband (to be) on our honeymoon. It's killing me and I have to wait until he gets the surprise on November 2nd.

We have been planning a suprise trip for our kids since last Dec. We are finially going on oct 28th for 8 days. Hitting the MNSSHP ( pirate: ) also for the first time. Kids are 9,6 and 2 1/2. Don't plan on letting them know until we leave that morning.

We did the same thing when our 2 oldest were 6,3. We actually got all the way to DW and spent the first night. We were pulling into the park before they figured out where we were.

The expressions on their faces were worth all the wait and expense. It also made the trip easier. They thought all along we were going to a car show. And actually the first night we were there we went to the Sat night cruise at Old Town so they saw we were at a car show.

I figure if we told them then every day they would be asking about it and they wouldn't sleep the night before the trip and they wouldn't sleep on the ride down there. Last time they slept for the first 4 hrs of the trip which made the drive a whole lot easier.

Just 40 some days to go.... :cool1: :earboy2:

I have been planning a surprise trip for my boys for 6 months now. It's been SO HARD to keep quiet about it!! But we FINALLY leave this Thursday (9/15) !!!! :cool1: I've made arrangements for my boys to go over to a friend's house Wednesday afternoon so that I can pack the bags in secrecy and store them in my closet. :) I just hope they don't notice their reading books & gameboys missing from their beds!! LOL! We have a 7:30 a.m. flight the next morning, so I'm planning on waking them at 5:30 with a shout "Get up! We're going to Disneyworld RIGHT NOW!" :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
