It seems to be my year! I found out that I was part of two last year when I got the settlements, one from Progressive Insurance nd the other from Geico.

This year my sister is a part of the big Pondimon/Redux fiasco.

And I just found out that my family is a part of the huge Metropolitan Life Class Action Suit.

Has anyone else been voluntarily or involuntarily part of one?

Probably not as big as those, but we were part of a class action suit against Marvin Windows - our windows were rotting because of the wood preservative that was used (go figure) - we found out about it somehow and got on the list. Didn't give us free windows, but we got a substantial amount of money towards window replacement, which we did do just in January.

Yes, I was part of one for a credit card (I forget which one). No matter how early I sent in my payment, they'd charge me a late fee. I recovered all of the fees I paid.

The company I work for is, but it doesn't affect me one way or the other...

We were part of one with our insurance. We started to get excited thinking that we might recieve a big juicy check. The check was the huge amount of 42 cents. Looks like the attorneys were the only ones who made out on this deal.

we actually just got a settlement check last night for $25. neither of us knew what it was for. :p

I'm waiting on the results from 2. One is a credit card and the other is from Blockbuster...haven't heard from either one of them.

My sister was involved in one with the federal government and actually won more than half a million dollars! It took 12 years to be settled though, and at least another year before she saw the first check.

The sad part though is that even though the money came from the government, she had to pay taxes on it, so they got a lot of it back. :(

Yep, my Dad and I were part of one (without needing to do anything) a few years ago when a group of season ticket holders sued Art Modell and the Browns (now Ravens) for breach of contract when he pulled the team out of Cleveland. I think we got like $50 or $100 for each season ticket. :)

Yeap, Prudential. We got a whole whopping $400 back for fraudulent life insurance. We didn't even know until we started getting letters.

We are listed on one but I doubt we will ever see a penny. Two years ago, we spent $2,200 on a computer that we never received. We ordered off the internet. About two weeks after we ordered, the company was shut down for fraud and the owner has since filed bankruptcy. We have filed all the paperwork with the court but I don't hold out much hope we will see any of our $. The thing that really ticks me off is the owner of the company who scammed thousands of people is not even in jail.

My DH was and didn't even know it, from Met Life also. This was a couple of years ago. He got a whole $1,000.00 in life insurance from the settlement.:teeth:

Yes, I'm currently involved in two separate suits regarding the same issue. One suit is against the state of Alabama, and one is against the real estate developers that built our subdivision.

once I got a 250 dollar check and I'm pretty sure it was a credit card

AFRocks, can I ask which one against the State of AL you are involved in? Is the Dept of Transportation one?:)
