Anyone else own a carpet cleaner?

I have a Bissell carpet cleaner. It looks like an upright vacuum cleaner. It's the "plus" model that heats up the water about 25 degrees more. Works well. I was SHOCKED (and embarrassed) by all the dirt that came out of my carpet after only 5 years (new house, new carpet).

I have the Hoover dual V steam vac. I always wanted one, and we got it last year when HSN was having some kind of sale. I, too, am shocked every time I clean the carpet and all that black water comes up out of the carpet.
I've been wanting to clean the carpet since we brought the baby home, but I don't think it's worth it until the winter is over.

On our 2nd Hoover, first one lasted 9 years, two labs and a messy family I use it all the time and fall over when I see the crud that comes out. Hoover has a new Agility model and were getting rid of the old models. I got my new one for $100 less than the one I bought 9 years ago!

Maybe taking your shoes off before walking on the carpet isn't such a bad idea afterall.

Lissa, it's better to clean more often. That dirt will wear down your carpet.

we have a bissell as well and that thing works wonders!

We have a Hoover SteamVac. It's great and the house smells so clean after we do the carpets.
