I'm in NH and have started getting things ready. The water is a mess but hopefully I'll have it all straightened out in a couple days.
We just bought a new pump and filter and got it hooked up last night. So today I'll be out there treating it and vacuuming. Such fun.....LOL

Since I'm not working this summer I may actually get a chance to enjoy it for a change!

After that I have to pull out the camper and get that opened, cleaned and repacked (its a pop-up).
Boy you can tell summer is comming! YAY!

Our pool has reached my optimum temperature! I actually got 1 hour of uninterrupted pool time yesterday afternoon! DD went to a friends house, so I got my book and my raft and floated and read for an hour! Life is good. We spent about an hour in the pool earlier in the day too. I worked all day outside on the lanai (gotta love wireless)! Heading into the pool for a few minutes of my lunch hour!

Have fun cleaning the pool!

By May 1 I can't stand to look at the cover anymore so we're open from May 1 to October 31!

What pool? I didnt know I had a pool! WOO HOO! :cool1:

If I had a pool - I would certainly be opening it, but alas - I do not.

Anyone ever try one of those *blow up* $50 or so, ones? I want a pool. :guilty:

I've really been disgusted with our weather here in PA. Today, it's 66 degrees out and this is certainly no exception to what the weather has been like lately. I can't swim unless it's at minimal, 80 degrees with minimal pool temps of 70. If I get both of these temps though, it's still darn cold. I like it in the 90s with water temps in the 80s, but beggars can't be choosers.

I'm just starting to think having a pool in the NE is a huge waste of money anymore.

So much for gloabal warming!

I opened ours several weeks ago and have the water sparkeling clear. Now that we finally have some wamer weather I turned on the heater yesterday and it should be all set to swim in by Saturday.

Our pool is open all year long. :goodvibes

we have been officially swimming in it for about 3 weeks. :thumbsup2

the water temp has been about 84...perfect on a 90-100 degree day.

We will be in it all weekend !!! :smooth:

Well I'm up in Canada and while I said we were open, I didn't say we were swimming. My water's only 46 degrees but it's beautiful to look at ...

Our's stays open basically year around. There's only 2-3 months we don't really use it, because lack of heater.

Ours got opened in early May which is early for here in Southern New England. We had a liner installed and that was the first date available. we filled it immediately and my DS and his friend went in on one of the warmer days, but since then they have not gone in because it has been so cold. They went in yesterday when it warmed up and I am sure we will have a pool full when we have our picnic on Sunday and it is 80+.

I asked this on another post and do not want to steal this one, but does anyone use Baquacil? We just switched from chlorine and I am wondering if it is worth the extra expense. Thanks. Jay

I wish we could swim... :( After 8 long months the pool is finally done and filled, but we still need to do a bit of rockwork and the rest of the backyard is a mess! Plus the water is pretty cold...have to get the solar installed sometime soon. I believe the salt is going in today but then again I have been known to be wrong...

have fun this weekend everyone! :)

Like Disney Kim our pool is open year round too!! :woohoo: Of course I'mmextrememly spoiled after 4 years in Texas and won't get in untill the pool is at least 82. We've been swimming for about 3 weeks and today it's sitting at 88. Gotta LOVE Texas. The funny thing is I remember summers on Lake Erie and Lake Superior and swimming when the water temps in the 60's :sad2:

Ours got opened yesterday, and is not nearly as bad as it normally is when we open. We should be able to swim by Monday :cool1: My grandparents bought us a pool heater last summer, so it will be warm enough to swim. Good thing too because it looks like we've got a hot Monday coming. This is the first year we've had the pool open this early; normally it's the first week of June before it gets opened

We used it for several years. You have to watch that algistat though or you'll have one foamy pool! LOL I put too much in one year and I think the pool had a beer foam on it for about a week.

We had no problems with it, but some friends did. They said the problems they had just magically appeared overnight. I forget what the culprit was, but I'm thinking their water turned color.

You know how you just get that sparkle from chlorine? Well, we never had that once when we were using Baquacil. For that reason alone, I prefer the chlorine. I just feel it's more sanitary and the smell of a chlorine pool just screams summer. We have no intentions of going back to Baquacil. I believe it's peroxide based.

DD and I spent about three hours in the pool today. We floated together and watched the clouds for awhile, and then just played. I could float in the pool all day if I were left to myself!!!!
