Anyone else on the Atkins Diet?

I started the week before Thanksgiving and today celebrated getting below 240 :cheer2:(my start weight was 277). I have a long way to go, but just being able to change my eating habits & lose weight has been great. I have failed at many diets in the past and this one has been great for me.

I just wanted to know if anyone else is doing this and see if there were any tips or tricks you wanted to share.

Our trip to WDW is soon and now I know I can saty strong & stay on track.
 
Hi teresa ! I am currently doing atkins... I am OWL rung 2 but Monday i'll be moving to rung 3.. I don't have any tips or tricks for WDW as I haven't been on it there.. I started due to being type 2 diabetic and my A1C numbers were creeping back up so my dr added a new med in the form of a once a week shot! EEEEK and OUCH!! so I am doing my best to get my weight down and sugars under control.. I stared on 2/18 and as of today 3/22 I am down from 181.9 to 162.9 and my blood sugar was frequently around 250 and is down to about 130 most days.. I was a HUGE white carb lover and thought this would be soo hard but it really wasn't .. thank god that means I'll be able to stick with it for life... Congrats on your loss and have a great Trip!!!
 
Found this thread in a search, wondering if you are still doing Atkins, and if so how is it going?
 
I am still on it an doing great, now down to 223 lbs. I really don't crave or miss the things I thought I would. Before starting I was pre diabetic and now all signs of that are gone. I continue to see my Dr every six months and have labs done to make sure everything else stays in check. I highly recommend this to anyone that is wanting a life changing diet!

I am semi-on it. Last week was my b-day so I indulged. ;-) Back on induction the next few weeks to cleanse my system.

I went from 200ish to 175 in a month. Now down to 172 and want to drop another 15-20.

My tips - Download the Atkins menu app for the phone. It's great when you can't figure what to eat. Also it's broke into Atkins phases.

I love the Atkins bars, the chocolate ones keep my sweet cravings in check.

Join the Atkins forums, lots of ideas there for snacks. Also try YourLighterSide.com. there are a ton of low carb recipees.

For soda's (I haven' touched one since January!) I substitute Perrier, Club soda, etc. I sometimes just want the fizz.

For salty/crunchy. I make "cheese chips" with the use of a microwave and parchment paper.

I realllllly wish most places would adopt a more low carb menu. WDW and DL could do with lettuce wraps instead of bread for burgers. Etc.
 
^^^^^ If you have a Red Robin by you they make and awesome burger on a lettuce wrap!!!!! YUM.. LOL
 
So excited as I'm now at 213 and still losing. The slow weight loss and lifestyle changes make this more than a diet and I still go to my Dr every 6 months so he can make sure all my numbers are good!
