I used to shop Target clearance sales too. I had to cut that out. Gave it up cold turkey. I bought way too much. Now I only go for something specific and try to stick to just that. If there's something on sale that I know we need, I'll get it. But no more filling up the cart. I was real good at that.![]()
One of my 2007 New Year's Resolutions was to "stop going to Target as much"...I have saved a bunch of money by not going. I can't resist a bargan and my closets were overflowing....I'm really carefull now only to purchase items I really need!
This is where I'm at, too. I used to buy WAY too much clearance. Now, if I happen to be there when it's a great clearance (75% off or greater), I have to have in my mind specifically WHY I want the particular item. That works for me. For example, I posted recently I bought lots of the Valentines dog treats at 90% off. That's a great deal for me, because I'd be buying dog treats anyway. I also bought a box of candy that did not look like Valentines (it had little chocolate purses on it) for dd to give to her secret pal for her next competition (March 1). I was going to have to get something anyway.

And bonus on top of all that is you can designate your local school to receive the Take Charge of Education dollars that are earned by your spending. Doesn't help curb the clearance shopping pangs, but helps "justify" it.
That would go such a long way to another Disney trip....
