Anyone else obsessed with Target clearance?

I used to shop Target clearance sales too. I had to cut that out. Gave it up cold turkey. I bought way too much. Now I only go for something specific and try to stick to just that. If there's something on sale that I know we need, I'll get it. But no more filling up the cart. I was real good at that. :upsidedow

One of my 2007 New Year's Resolutions was to "stop going to Target as much"...I have saved a bunch of money by not going. I can't resist a bargan and my closets were overflowing....I'm really carefull now only to purchase items I really need!

This is where I'm at, too. I used to buy WAY too much clearance. Now, if I happen to be there when it's a great clearance (75% off or greater), I have to have in my mind specifically WHY I want the particular item. That works for me. For example, I posted recently I bought lots of the Valentines dog treats at 90% off. That's a great deal for me, because I'd be buying dog treats anyway. I also bought a box of candy that did not look like Valentines (it had little chocolate purses on it) for dd to give to her secret pal for her next competition (March 1). I was going to have to get something anyway.

We've found an even better way to save money on Target Clearance as well. We got a Target Check Card (not a credit card - it comes out of your checking account like a debit card, so no interest fees). We use it on all our Target purchases - regular and clearance. The card comes with the benefit of every $1000 you spend and/or every 10 Target prescriptions you get, you will receive one of the 10% discount cards good for one day of extra discount shopping. We find they rack up pretty fast when we shop for groceries etc there too. With that discount card - it is available to be used on sale and clearance merchandise to take an extra 10% off the price - so bonus deals to be had. :) And bonus on top of all that is you can designate your local school to receive the Take Charge of Education dollars that are earned by your spending. Doesn't help curb the clearance shopping pangs, but helps "justify" it. :cool1:

I am another one who spends WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much on Target clearance. I am thinking actually banning myself from the store for a while. I have such a hard time resisting the deals, especially this time of the year when the weather is bad and a good shopping trip is such a good pick-me-up. I spent probably $500 on junk there since the first of the year. Christmas clearance for next year, Global Bazaar clearance, clothing clearance....omg. :confused3 That would go such a long way to another Disney trip....
