I was looking around ebay the other night and was curious about Disney tickets and woo was I amazed. I feel veryyyyyy sorry for the people who think they are getting a deal. I looked at several lots and every one of them was either around the same price or even more!!! How can people sell tics for that price without losing sleep!!!!!

WARNING DO NOT but your tickets on ebay!!!

The prices are very high and you have to pay your own shipping on these tickets, like 6 dollars. Like it costs that much to mail tickets. You have to take the chance when you buy these tickets that they will work at the gate also. I think i would rather buy my own tickets.

Snowwitch,
After reading your post I went out to look at EBAY, I was shocked!!!! First, one seller claims that you save 8% on tax (the tax is only 6%) and secondly, some are selling "comp" tickets.
As to people thinking they are getting a deal, well, all I can say is " a fool and his money are soon parted". When they see the real price on the back of the tickets, they will be surprised.
Other than the fact that what the sellers are doing is against the law, why would they loose sleep? You charge what the market will bear or pay. I am not saying that it is correct, I am saying that is what the real world is like. Pretty bad, eh?
As to the "shipping" charge, Disney charges slightly less than that, but, you do have the assurance that what you are buying is the real deal. With ebay, you have some assurance and your purchases are somewhat protected, but, that will do you no good when you find that the passes cannot be used and if they do take action against the seller, they just come back under a different name.
Ebay is usually a great site to get stuff on, I am just surprised that they allow these transactions.

I guess the one that bugged me the most Gail was the seller who has (3) 4 day park hoppers for sell. When I clicked on I learned what he really had was 2 park days left and 2 plus days left. To me that is not a 4 day park hopper, thats HALF of a 4 day park hopper. The more I sat and thought about it the more fraudulant it seemed to me. If I didn't know my disney tickets I would be thinking what those poor people biddding on them are thinking, "I'm getting a deal compared to Disneys 4 day hopper price!" But their not getting a 4 day park hopper. And those poor people trying to save a few bucks using ebay only to get screwed.

Just curious, but where are people getting these two day hopper passes from? It says they are not available to the general public, but it does not say where they come from.

I know when I worked at TDS in college, we received 4 one day hopper passes a year.

I just don't think I could trust anyone like that, and buy tickets on ebay.

HI

"QUOTE" from ebay

"I accept the following forms of payment: Billpoint, Paypal, Money Order, or Personal Check

Winning Bidder pays $3.95 for USPS Priority Mail w/ Tracking Number

"Due to laws regulating ticket sales in this area, the seller in this auction will not accept any bids above $198.21 plus $1.00 or from bidders in Florida. Do not bid more than this amount. Bids that exceed this amount are void and will be cancelled by the seller. The seller will end the auction if, and when, this price is met."

They put this on just to make people think they can be trusted. I don't understand myself why ebay allows this. On alot of the sites where they sell computer programs that people use CD-R's they cancel them. I don't know why they don't cancel the disney ones.

I think that alot of people go to the timeshares and sell the tickets they recieve. They also sell whatever days they have left. I wouldn't buy them. I do not throw money out the window. I would not trust buying something that cost so much money from a stranger.
that there is not way to check to see if they are honest.

Now before I begin let me say that I did buy tickets on ebay last year and paid an average of $38 per person per day for hoppper tickets. The people I bought from were nice, honest people and one of them threw in parking passes although I didnt need them - I wish I had them now though. Anyway, this year I started looking and YOU'RE RIGHT! I thought no one else noticed! People are paying like $80 per day per ticket! I was thinking of selling some - heck if you bought a park hopper at regular price you could sell it and make a bundle!

The really funny thing is that selling Disney tickets on ebay is illegal so I am going to assume buying them is too! People are paying almost twice as much for the tickets than they would at the door and they could get in trouble for it! Last year I bought and envelope and got the park hoppers as a bonus. This year they are very blatent about it.

I think some people just are NOT happy unless they have paid the absolute maximum for their vacation! Maybe they know something we don't. Anyone want to buy some swamp land in FLA???

The two day hoppers are left over from a 4 day hopper in most cases, as most of the ads state.

Snow witch,
I did not see the one about 2 days and 2 plusses ( I think I saw enough in the two pages that I found) but, like I said before, a fool and their money are soon parted. You are much nicer than I am regarding worrying about someone getting ripped off. With every negative experience you are supposed to gain positive experience for future use, perhaps this will work for the folks who overspend.

The one ad with the disclaimer quoted is what I used to see all the time, too bad they don't do that anymore. For the most part, every transaction I have ever done on ebay has been great, but, then, I only buy stuf that is legal to purchase and I do my homework first.

I have read quite a few of the ads there for hoppers for sale. Quite a few are holiday 1-day hoppers that were given to employees. They said all you have to do is go to the ticket window and turn it in for a one day hopper. No ID needed. They have a one year expiration date on them. These tickets were given free to employees as gifts. Are these illegal to sell too?

The tickets CM's receive as perks can be GIVEN away to anyone, however, CM's are prohibited from selling them.

I also was looking at tickets on Ebay and had actually placed a bid, then I started thinking, if all the employees who are getting free passes to give to families and friends start selling them on EBAY, don't you think the parks will think twice before continuing this practice. The park is trying to do something nice for their employees and some are turning a profit on it. It just didn't seem right. Luckily, I was outbid so I didn't have to get them. Is it really worth saving a few bucks by doing something illegal or immoral? I don't think so.

That is sell and buy WDW tickets on ebay! The first time I bought 2 2day hoppers left over from 4 day hoppers so my husband and I could go for 2 days and hop around. We paid $198 for the lot (including shipping) Although 1 day tickets are $50 you can not hop around with those so that's why we purchased the tickets on ebay. There is much debate as to the legality to selling left over tickets. Some say the law is only valid in Florida and since the seller nor I was not in Fla we weren't breaking the law (That's a whole nother thread though!). A year later I sold a hopper that had 1 day left on it for $70...once again that's $20 more than a 1 day ticket but the user got to hop to any of the 4 main parks that they wanted. This justified the cost to the buyer. My advice would be to look at the sellers feedback. If they have a lot of good feedback you can almost assume that they are on the up and up. Hope that sheds some light! :)

I too have both bought and sold tickets on ebay. I bought 3 2-day hoppers for $310 and then ended up only using one day. I sold the extra day for $225. Was there risk involved in buying? Yes, but the seller had a very high positive feedback rating and the tickets worked fine. Did I break the law? As the last poster indicated, possibly not since Florida residents were not involved. Even if I did, it's no worse than going that extra 5 mph over the speed limit which many of us do on ocassion. Did I take adavantage of someone by selling the tickets for such a high price? No, I had priced the tickets at a miminum of the cost for one-day's addmittance. The fact that someone chose to pay a premium for the right to go to all 4 parks is that person's choice. No one bids on these tickets thinking they are getting a "deal." They bid knowing they are in most cases paying a premium for 1 or 2 day Park Hoppers. The person to whom I sold the tickets was thrilled by her ability to get Park Hoppers for the one day she and her family were visiting.

I am leaving for Disney Saturday and have been for months watching EBAY for passes. I finally got so mad I went to the Disney Store and used my club discount and got 3- 5 day hopper passes yesterday. The prices on EBAY and criminal. The people must be awfully dumb to think they are getting a deal. EBAY apparently has a policy in ticket sales - but apparently does not monitor the selling of these tickets. I was interested in a 1 day ticket to offset my 5 purcahsed - haha - the prices were like $70 or more for a 1 day! I was frustrated with Disney however because I wanted a 6 day pass without water parks - this can not be done. I thought of buying the 6 day then selling the "plus" days on EBAY - but did not want the hassle or bother. Geez I probably could have made $100 or more selling just the 3 plus days on each pass - lets see ...... 9 plus days to use at water parks. Haha.

Well it is sad and I hope everyone watches this - plus as the chat Moditerator told me many times these passes are fake (anyone see Inside Edition the other day?????)

I am sure quite a few people who purchase from ebay like the two who posted in this thread are familiar with Disney's ticket options and prices; However, I feel like the vast majority of people find Disneys ticket options confusing and go to ebay for a deal. If I weren't completely familiar with the various options and prices I might be tempted to purchase something that says "4 day park hopper with 2 park days and 2 water park days "and THINK I was getting what Disney sells as the 4 day park hopper. I realize it is up to the consumer to know what they are buying but all of us who know our Disney know how overwhelming it was when we first started going. It just comes off as hinky to me!

OMG, I thought I was the ONLY one who saw how nieve people are on Ebay! I swear people just don't do the research, they deserve to get rooked!

Last year I saw people bidding on Disney DVDs like the Little Mermaid for $30 bucks and more, so I emailed one of the bidders and told her it was on sale at dvdexpress for $15.99, she never even thanked me! lol Oh well...

Just as an FYI Lori, you can get "kicked off" ebay for communicating with bidders on issues such as prices of items elsewhere etc. I know you were being helpful but ebay does not allow this sort of communication (for example, you could be letting someone know they could buy the item at a lower price from you or a company you were affilitated with so they don't allow any of this type of communication). I would just hate for your caring nature to get you into trouble with ebay.

:) :) :)
