anyone else not like the holidays? im ready to go to bed

Any particular reason?

I'm a little stressed - with starting a new job tomorrow and all - but other than that, I'm pretty much looking forward to it..

Sorry you are feeling down, but Christmas should be a happy time for kids, so try and smile for your kids!! It might make you feel better too!:D

Sorry to hear. I've been there, sometimes it's hard to just "buck up" when you are depressed or under a lot of stress.

This year I am incredibly excited and happy for the holidays. I think because we simplified our plans, cut back, not trying to do it "all" etc.

The holiday's can be an incredibly difficult and stressful time for some, esp. if there are outside pressures, family pressures, job pressures.. or if you are suffering from depression. I do encourage you or anyone who thinks they may be depressed to talk to your physician or a counselor, it really can do wonders.

Well, sometimes it gets to be a bit much. Personally it helps to try to keep the focus on Jesus and His birth, and spend time with family. Sitting down together and watching movies like White Christmas. Trying to slow it down some. And I found out that trips right before or after Christmas makes it all harder too. Take the nap...maybe it will be better when you wake.

Im not enjoying this month at all. Think it's time to go to bed.

Start planning for your next cruise, that should take your mind off of December.

Sorry but sometimes you just have to suck it up and make things nice for your children.

It seems to me that you enjoy whining. Since you have a son, maybe it would be best to put his happiness first and at least "pretend" to be happy yourself. And.........if you are lucky, your pretending happiness might ultimately become a reality. Barring that, seeking professional help might be your best bet.

This is going to be harsh so if you don't want to hear it back out now.

If the worst thing that happens to you this year is that your cruise was cancelled and you got to 'ONLY' go to WDW, then I suggest you look up and say thank you because you have been blessed.

There are people who have real problems that they are dealing with right now. I have a friend who is scared for his future. My neighbor's nephew died trqagically last week leaving behind a wife and 2 children, 4 and 16 months.

So when you feel like taking a nap because the depression of JUST going to Disneyworld is getting to you, I suggest you take a long hard look at reality, because yours is pretty good.

Good post, Aahmom. You said what I'm sure a lot are thinking.

Really, I'm sure you have a lot to be happy about. I can barely pay rent this month, let alone get to go to WDW. Cheer up!

Let's see, I was laid off for nine months this year so I can't go to Disney in February with my boys like I had planned. My mother's an invalid and I have to take care of her needs before I can take care of my children's or my own. I work two jobs to help make up for the income I lost while I was laid off. Next week that means that I'll be working 70 hours. I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping and I may not get it all done before the 25th. But you know what? I'm working now, I'm healthy, I have tremendous friends, a wonderful family and I'm happy to be alive. Life is what you make it to be. If you can't turn it around with will power and positive thinking then it's probably time to get professional help.

Or you could just turn on Christmas Vacation, its on right now and its making me howl with laughter! :)

Well I think most of you know how I feel about Christmas, 10 more days, it'll be here and gone before we know it, I want it done and over with soon, like yesterday

But Snoops, she went to bed.

I'm agreeing with aahmom on this one. I haven't posted to many of your threads because there was just too much frustration for me to handle. You were going to WDW and I was not. So, I couldn't think of anything to say except that.

I think it is all in your attitude during the holidays. I can let myself get very overwhelmed too. The true meaning of Christmas gets lost in the hustle bustle. I have to take 2 steps back and breathe deep.

It is in your attitude, ImgoingtoDisney. Your son is young enough that he needs you. Your DH needs you to help make the holidays special. Suck it up. (My DH's favorite saying) Get your mind off yourself and your problems and do something for someone else. Make a goal...say I'm going to do 3 things today for 3 strangers. Then DO IT. Focus on others and get your mind off yourself. Unless there is more to your unhappiness than your missed trip and no one is dying, sick in a hospital, or something horrible, then make up your mind to feel better...it is your attitude that will make the difference.

I hope you have a better week this week, Barb. I really do. It is just time to spend of yourself so you'll be richer, ok?

I wish it was just the post trip letdown. However, MIL hasnt spoken to me since Feb. My DHs side is getting together to celebrate Christmas Dec 28th and I wont be there. So there is more to my non-Christmasy feelings than the trip.

IGTD maybe you can volunteer at a homeless shelter that day, or deliver Meals On Wheels. I'm sure they'll be looking for extra help during the holidays.

I've found my Christmas spirit is directly affected by how much I am giving to people who are less fortunate than my family and I. A few years ago we started adopting a family for Christmas. What an eye opener for me and my kids! This year as I wrap their gifts and shop for their Christmas dinner, I will be thankful that I am able to do this. WE get more out of it than the recepients ever could.

I hope you're feeling better soon.
