Anyone else NOT like horror?

It depends on the category. Slasher movies are a big no for me, and it's not that I don't like other types of horror. I just get extremely scared. Any type of demon possession movies and I cannot sleep. I had to stop reading horror because it creeped me out so much. I can handle Goosebumps. There are some movies that are a bit creepy but not scary that I will watch, though.

I like horror like Alien... or classic horror like vampire movies (Sinners, Nosferatu) or monster movies like Jurassic Park or Godzilla. I also like more psychological or supernatural horror like The Others. I am not a fan of the slasher movies like Friday the 13th etc.

Going to see the new Frankenstein movie today.

I enjoy most horror but not extreme slashers or what I call true to life horror like home invasion or stalkers. I visited a ton of haunted houses over time and had a blast.

I don't like horror movies at all or even scary movies really. To the point that I won't watch Halloween baking championship on food network because it's devolved into a disgusting gore fest and what on Earth is appetizing about that? I absolutely hate all the scary/gross Halloween commercials/previews this time of year. I do my best to avoid it, but some stuff slips through. I get that other people enjoy and have fun with it, it just isn't my cup of tea and never has been.

I prefer cute and kid friendly Halloween stuff love seeing the trick or treaters and their costumes. And I'm the first one to hand out candy to any teenager who comes to trick or treat. But I'll save the blood and gore and especially the paranormal stuff for someone else. I'll be over here watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" 🎃

You know what really got me? Two stories. The Birds and Jaws. In both instances, I was reading the book, not watching the movie. The Birds terrified me. Jaws? I've never got past the first 15 or so pages.

I love horror movies so much. I've been watching 1 a day the whole month. They're some of my all-time favorite movies of all-time, with the Scream franchise being my #1.

Currently watching Halloween: H20 as we speak. The crazy thing is... I still get scared! Still get crazy anxious. Still flinch at jump scares.

But on November 1st, I will switch to Hallmark Channel and then it'll be all Christmas, all the time. 🎅

I can handle the old, classic monster movies. I recently saw Bride of Frankenstein for the first time and was surprised by how much sympathy I felt for the monster.
I cannot stand slasher movies or anything gory. I avoid haunted houses and hate jump scares with a passion.

Just to expand on this, I think there is a distinction between horror and gore. Proper nail biters such as Duel are fantastic, if a little taxing on the ol' nerves. Gore fests live Hostel and Saw are just ridiculous. And very much not welcome in my household!

I should calrify that I don't mind graphic violence outright - if there is a good reason for it, then I can appreciate it. My prime example of using gory violence to further the sotry is Robocop, but that's not really a horror movie. Something like Alien might be a good example - it has gore, but it is used to heighten what is real psychological tension. You don't really get that in most "slasher" movies, where it's more played for shock value or even laughs. That's what I dont' care for.

I am totally with you! I do not like horror movies or haunted houses at all! I do go on Haunted Mansion but as a child it used to scare me!
