I keep seeing all the YCE threads and wondered if I'm alone...

With all my allergies, the smell of candles just sets me to sneezing! I bought this one that I just loved the smell of, just having it in my house, unlit, was enough to send my nose a-twitchin'.

My husband hates them!

He's so paranoid about fire. He acts like candles are flame-throwers or torches or something.

DH is not a big candle fan. Though he did like the MacIntosh YC I got in the exchange. He thinks most of them smell like puke.

I have tried to make myself like them but I cant do it anymore, I hate candles

Count me in!
I have such a hard time with all the smells! Last Christmas I really wanted to get my friend a Yanky candle so I went into the store not thinking I would have such a bad reaction! The lady was great showing me stuff and helping then the room started to spin! I told her I wanted one she showed me but I couldn't stay or I would pass out. I ran out of the store and almost fainted I guess luckily there was a bench! It felt like my head was caving in! She came out checked on me rang up my sale and brought everything out to me! the werid thing is I don't have a bad reaction to body and bath! Granted some times it is over powering but not like the candle store!
That is the last time I go in!

I'm not a candle fan, mostly because I worry about starting a fire.

I like candles, I just don't like to burn them. Laura, I know I'd be starting a fire with them (I'm rather clumsy).

I cannot burn scented candles in my house because they give my DH a horrible headache.:(

I have had to really search to find attractive unscented candles.

I also like the look of them but I don't burn them, either. I grew up in Brooklyn and everytime we heard a firetruck my Mom would remark, Oh, someone was burning candles, again...

It always SCARED me!!

And having cats who love to bat things around to seem them fly is another deterrent! I would never have one burning at my home.

On the other hand, a girl at the office burns a peach flavored one in her office and it is amazing. I've smelled the apple one also and loved it.

Don't like smeely ones - they make me keck.

However the no-smelly are ok. They can set a nice mood.

I'll burn them on my screened in porch but not inside. I'm afraid the smoke will mark the walls. Too much conditioning from living with my smoking grandfather. I saw what his habit did to his apartment and my in-laws, absolutely disgusting!!

I have a very senstitive nose. Almost anything can send me sneezing (and always many many times in a row). I have serious trouble going into a YC store without sneezing and getting a massive headache. The only time recently I've been able to go in was when I had a cold and couldn't smell much of anything at all. I am very picky about my scents, but out of all the scented candles I have come across YC has the best selection of ones that don't make me sneeze or get a headache.

I also have two cats so I have to be very very careful where and when I burn them. I admit I also have a collection of candles that I probably will never burn just becaues I like the look of them.

Love candles... Burn them often in the fall and winter, as well as oil lamps.

HATE Yankee Candles.

Pembo, How's the little one? Smells can trip my migraines but I do ocassionally light the little tea lights, in the vanilla fragrance, in my diningroom.

CANDLES.............with our 5 Year old????? Fawwwwwwwwwgedddddddddabout it;) ;) .

We do keep flashlights on hand when "acts of GOD:rolleyes: " cause our power to be cut..............

My husband was a firefighter for years and had to fight plenty of fres caused by candles, so he's not a huge fan. My kids are little, but they learned early on not to touch Mommy's candles - yet he still worries they may.

We had a tragedy recently, a very close family friend was killed in his apartment when the candle he lit caught on fire - he forgot to blow it out when he went to sleep, and the cat knocked it off the mantle. For awhile after that I stopped lighting candles, but then I missed them so much I started again. I've always been extra careful about never leaving them lit when I'm not at home or asleep.
