I enjoy watching a few competitions but I really dont know enough about them to make informed opinions about the comentators ( past or present I have no idea who they are, I *do* know when theyre being dumb or boring though LOL), the atheletes, or the sports themselves actually.

Anyone else feel " Out of the loop"?

I'm not into the summer games as much as the winter games. C'mon - sailing as an Olympic sport? It's like golf - not very exciting to watch. I'll catch some events here and there, but I don't plan my evenings around which sports will be shown on tv.

I have to say this is the 1st Olympics that I'm not into it. I've flipped it on a few times but I can't deal with all the talking during the events. I just want to watch whats going on not be told everytime an athletic takes a breathe . Maybe everyone should e-mail NBC and tell the comentators to SHUT UP!!!

With me, I not a big fan of the tape delay. On Sat., the media already told me Phelps won the gold, so why watch it. I will watch some of the live events on cable tv (Women's softball this morning for example), but I can't get into watching it rehashed during prime time.

For the summer games -- very much not. I didn't even know when they were starting and if it hadn't been for the DIS, would have missed the opening ceremonies. I occasionally watch the swimming, equestrian, or gymnastics, but only if there's nothing else on.

Now winter olympics -- I like them a lot more! I love watching pretty much every skiing sport, toboggan, and figure skating (pairs, individuals, dancing...)

DW is the sports fan in our house and she will be glued to every moment she can be during the Olympics. I have no interest, but I hope the U.S. athletes do well:D

aMEN!

NBC is doing an AWFUL job on this one!! And I've been a BIG Olympics fan since Mark Spitz! This one just doesn't keep my interest at all!

NBC is irritating alright. I'd love to get to see the opening ceremonies WITHOUT commentary. Why did Bob Costas feel the urge to speak during Bjork's solo? Didn't he realize most people like their music without a play by play?

Aside from that I find the coverage on Bravo and USA to be pretty good because they have commentators who were past participants in the sport. Plus they are the offbeat sports like field hockey, beach volleyball, volleyball, cycling, women's basketball, dressage...and tennis. The prime time coverage is just majorily irritating...I can pretty much tell when a gymnast is about to screw up because the commentators are falling over themselves to say how wonderful he or she is. And they are still choosing to cover the Americans no matter who wins...so you get things like shots of the US team after the mens 4X100 relay (we took bronze) rather than shots of the South Africans who won.

I pray for the day NBC's contract runs out.
