I've had a cold on and off for the better part of 6-8 weeks now. Its mostly just a runny nose, but when I get a runny nose, its BAD. Its come and gone (and come again) 3 times now in the 6-8 weeks, and I'm getting tired of it!! My runny nose is finally slowing, but now I have an awful cough.

I went to the Dr at the end of the first "cold" for something else, and she said there was nothing to do about it, just wait it out.

I can't go to the gym, I can't run at home (the slightest cold, and my breathing gets very laboured)... I just finished a 6 day Z-pac, and I'm the same as I was when I started it. I also take a Womens One A Day and echenagia (sp?) every day.... when I remember it....

Anyone else going through this? What have you done to kick it in the butt???

I'm on my 4th antibiotic for what snds like yours somewhat. Mine turned into bronchitus and I have a couple auto immune diseases so they want to play it safe.

Its not pretty, but I know how you feel.

I have. Been three weeks and so far, doc says nothing wrong just need to wait it out. The runny nose and sneezing come and go. One day I will have it but the next day I won't. The cough is my achilles heel. Good golly, sometimes at night I have to actually get out of bed and sit in the living room. I will have a couple days where it is hardly noticeable during the day but at night I can't shake it.

Now that my voice is back, I can complain about it to dh so that is helping me some! :lmao:

I have a cough that's been here for a bit. It's irritating, but you've really just gotta let it pass.

Just remember that if it is truly a cold, or even the flu, antibiotics(like a z pak) will not get rid of it. Viruses(colds and flu are viral not bacterial like strep and some bronchitis) mostly just have to run their course and your immune system has to learn how to beat it. Get plenty of rest, fluids etc and try to stay home as much as possible so you are not constantly exposing yourself to new bugs.

I would say it sounds more like allergies and asthma than a cold--you might want to get that looked into-and YES they can show up out of the blue as an adult.

I'm on my second round of antibiotics. Mine is a sinus infection that turned into bronchitis and laryngitis. I haven't had a voice in over a month. I am at my wits end because I just can't get any voice out. The doc is giving me until next week to clear it up or I'm off to the ENT doc. This is the first time in my life that I just can't shake the infection. I cough so hard that I'm constantly afraid that I'm going to need depends!

Something more going on than just a cold. Colds usually run their course in 7 to 10 days.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well..

Knock on wood, everyone is healthy and feeling fine here..:santa:

I have been experiencing this for the past 5 months since I had bronchitis during the summer. I am on antibiotics and other meds for the 4th time to try and prevent pneumonia. The doctor has no idea what I have.
