Here we have what is almost a complete kitchen facility available each time we go. Yet, since we joined in 1992, we have never cooked anything in our unit!! We used the microwave just once (to heat a frozen dinner for M-in law) and we make coffee. But that's it !!
In a way, it seems like a waste...
Anyone else have similar experience??

Does heating water for tea/hot chocolate count??;)

Nope, in 10 years, I've never cooked, but I love having that refrigerator. :D :D

We use the refrigerator and usually have cereal for breakfast. My DH once heated up left over fries in that "kitchen ornament" thing!!!

there's actually POWER hooked up to that stove?

Knock me over with a feather!

hi: we've only used the refrigerator and toaster on a regular basis. maybe a microwave was used for popcorn once or twice. my dil did use the white stove decoration for making tea at one point until i pointed out the fact that it was just a decoration and not meant to be used on vacation.

:) :) Too funny!!! Cook on vacation? :) :) I have to have coffee, but I enjoy all the wonderful dining at WDW too much to cook.

I cooked breakfast every morning... ..... but there were 8 of us and the smell of cooking bacon woke everyone up each morning:D

Cooking! Is that what that "equipment" is for? :) The only thing I make is reservations( Opps..I mean priority seatings) !!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

You guys are too funny. We have had only one stay home and we used the fridge and some of the glassware. Does that count? :D

I always thought that stuff in the kitchen were just props. I have been a member since 95 and never used the stove. When Olivias went down hill a few years back I started toasting a begal in the morning but that is it. It is not a waste however, and makes you feel like you are at home. That is what props are for, to look like the real thing!!

I guess we once again fall into the really wierd people catagory... We brought along a friend of my 2 boys AND his Gandma on our last trip to BWV. I think she thot she had to 'repay' us for the trip down there, and each morning we woke to the WONDERFUL smell of biscuits and bacon and eggs... Me? I'll keep reserving the full 2 or 3 BR, thank you very much.... (lol)

:)

Maybe we're wierd, but after having gone through two WDW trips eating the disney and maingate area food, the ability to make our own meals was one of the major perks that sold us on the DVC.

Being DINKS (when wifey-poo has a job) means we can eat out alot (and do) at home. We also have tons of excellent restaurants to visit, so going on vacation to eat out all of the time isn't high on our priority list. :)

However, I understand most people view vacation as the time go eat out alot and go shopping. I never understood the shopping bit, but I can appreciate why parents (ok, mostly moms) would appreciate not having to cook. I, on the otherhand, like cooking and as a general rule, like my cooking better than most restaurants. :)

For our upcoming (planned, but not reserved til 7 months out *bleaugh* :) ) trip with my in-laws, having the kitchen will be a major bonus as their budgets are pretty tight. Breakfast in the rooms, plus a few lunches and dinners thrown in will help stretch their budget alot.

So, to answer the question, our first meal after we went home for the first time at VB was cooked in the kitchen.

Happy Friday,
Joe

We use the refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

Easy Mac is about the most cooking we've done.

Only use the fridge for soda and sometimes make popcorn for my 2 yr old.

LOL. I have four children and I cook and clean everyday. No way am I going to do it on vacation. I wish the rooms had more sleeping options rather than the kitchen. But it's a nice touch.

My in-laws love the kitchen and cook full meals everyday.

I don't bother making coffee in the room. The coffee at the poly stand is some of the best I've had anywhere. Love the vanillia cappachino.

Since our trips are usually for 2-3 weeks we actually like the ability to cook some food in our rooms. WDW has some great restaurants but the counter service stuff can get old after a while. I'm not talking full meals but spaghetti, sandwiches, tacos taste really good when I can't look at one more chicken strip.

The ability to cook in the rooms is a big reason we purchased DVC. Food at the parks is a rip-off and not the highest quality. I find the majority of the food at WDW to be marginal (i.e. Tony's Town Square = Prego). Our last trip to VWL we spent $200.00 for five days of in-room meals, and didn't eat out at all. We would have spent that in 1-2 days if we were to eat out, even at the moderate restaurants. We do enjoy going out, but we are much more selective about where we will be dining when at WDW.

Also, I hate pitching entire kids meals into the trash at $8.95 each. I'd rather pitch the $0.75 Kraft Easy-mac.

We try to purchase some special meals for preparing in our room. At HH, we bought crab cakes already prepared. We just had to fry in our room. They were great with a big glass of chardonnay.

Of course most food is great with a big glass of chardonnay ;) :D .

Eating most meals in our room saves enough to pay for our annual dues.

...............how else would we keep all that White Wine chilled for a whole week?

LOL

I wish there was a 2 bedroom /no kitchen option .

My husband wants me to cook.... and all I want to do is eat out. My stratagy is to make a lot of PS's and plan meal times at the parks.

My dream is to stay at either BWV or BCV and every eening walk over to Epcot and try a new restraunt! Say??? When is that food and wine fest anyway???

Last year, the F&WF was October 20 - November 18...don't know the dates of this year.

But even without it, it would not be hard to eat at a different restaurant at Epcot every night of a vacation....unless you are vacationing for several weeks!! :D :D

We love having the kitchen area -- it "feels" so homey. But, up through our last trip, we have only stored snacks in the cabinets and drinks and yogurt in the fridge. Occasionally, we brew coffee. We do use the sink to wash out the glasses though!!! But each and every time we enter our villa, we feel so at home because of the kitchen. Go figure!
