Anyone else never use the resort pool?

I used to NEVER go swimming in the pools.. but this last trip we went swimming at least three nights out of four that we were there in the evening and it was awesome! I love swimming at night... it was a great way to end the day.. :cutie:

but don't feel bad if you don't take advantage of the pool.. there's so much to do at disney you'll never be able to do EVERYTHING unless you were there for months at a time!

Since we go to WDW mainly in cooler weather we rarely swim! I think I have been in a pool 1x but DS has gone swimming several times over the years, usually with a friend.

I'd say that I've used the pool every fourth WDW stay. A lot of my visits were in the cooler winter months though.

I've stayed at the Beach Club 8 or 9 times, and I have never set foot in Stormalong Bay. I'm too afraid that the sight of me in a bathing suit will ruin the trip of every small child in sight. :guilty:

20+ trips, and not a single visit to the pools. We just don't have time, when we go to resort in the middle of the day we all nap so we can be fresh for the evening activities. A nap is more important for my DD8, DD6, and DD3 than any pool visits (and for mom and dad also). Maybe when they are older, but right now we are too busy with park stuff and meals to go swimming.

Back in the day when our kids went with us to DW we used to stay at POR and places with nice pools but now that it just us and neither one of us are pool people we stay at the Values and stay for longer periods of time.

I'm always torn about this. On one hand, I feel I'm in Fiorida so I HAVE to go swmming. Feels like 'm missing out on something if I don't. On the other hand, once I am in the pool, I feel like I'm wasting my time. I could be in the parks instead.

I'd say during the warmer months, if we're there for 7 days, we may hit the pool twice. Colder months, I don't think we'd bother.

We rarely use the pools when we go. Not sure why, but that is the way it is. The last few trips I didn't even bother to pack a swim suit. Who knows if we'll do it this trip or not, but I might be more likely to bring one since it will be warmer.

Wouldn't say we never use the pool, but close. We have a pool at home and there are too many other things to do at WDW. :thumbsup2

I pay too much for my WDW trip to waste it in a pool..

I'm not much of a pool person either. However, when we stayed at POFQ in May 04, I did use the hot tub in the evenings.

I'll be at Coronado Springs this December for 2 nights, might try the hot tub there if I'm not too far away.

Stayed at CBR and POP and never used the pools. My kids are competitive swimmers, so they are in a pool everyday. We like to spend all our time in the parks. However, we are staying at the CR next summer and my son already said he wanted to try out their slide. I guess we'll have to find some time to fit that in! We do love the water parks, though!

We tried to go to the pool at the CR but there were so many crows, ducks, seagulls that you could not enjoy yourself. Bird Poop in the pool is a no no!

I dont come to WDW for the pool anyways. I like to stay in the parks most of the day.

I used the pool one time in 12 days at SSR! There is so much other "stuff" to do and see that there is just not enough time. I was impressed with SSR pool, the slide was an awesome touch! :goodvibes

In all our many many trips over the last 30 years or so we never used the resort pools until last month for our week stay at YC and Poly. YC pools are so much better than Poly and they have a great hot tub at the quiet pool that no one used while we were there

I can't swim, but I go in the pool just one time each trip just so I can say I went in the pool.:lmao: Especially on this last trip. I couldn't go to the resort that has the famous Stormalong Bay and not go in it, so I went once. The water was nice and warm, but it was freezing when I got out.

The kids have been sick on each of these trips, so they didn't want to go in much either.

Finding time to swim is so hard - coming back to the resort in the afternoon means a nap for me! Plus, this past February it was too cold to swim at AKL. :guilty:

We never miss a chance to swim! Even when we are there in late Oct/Nov. I've just found that a late night swim helps relax my daughter so she can sleep. And for me, it's just not a vacation if I don't get a few hours out by the pool with a good book and a pina colada.

I'm actually a little bummed that swimming might not be an option on this Dec trip. It's our first time going this late in the year.
