Anyone else miss room service?

Room service is one of our favorite parts of staying at a nice hotel. There's nothing quite like having a hot & tasty meal delivered to you in your comfortable room, where you can relax and dine in peace and privacy. I hate that Disney has taken it away. It's tailor-made for social distancing, so apparently it's a cost/staffing issue, why it's been suspended. Anyone else hoping that it comes back soon?

I can’t tell you how nice it would have been on our trip a few day’s ago. The food options right now are so limited it would be nice to have something else.

The food options with Room service would be the same as the restaurant/s, if not lesser.

Disney's in-room dining has traditionally had multiple menus that include items you cannot get from resort restaurants.

Frankly, I've never had room service! However, I have a solo trip planned, and I was looking forward to treating myself with my first ever room service meal. Disappointed I can't.

As realties o Disney, we used room service when our child was much younger.

As recently as last year, we utilized breakfast room service to optimize time on busy Park days.

But in a nutshell, there are many things I miss right now, room service at Disney could be on my list.

I think it may be they are concerned about scalability. With some parks closing early leading to more dinners at the resort, and with other parks opening later allowing more lazy mornings sleeping in and ordering a big breakfast, demand for room service would probably go through the roof. Not easy to do. Plus then you'd need to set up rules like with bell service where they won't bring stuff in your room etc. More trouble than its worth I expect.

I love the idea of room service, but I don't recall ever having ordered it anywhere. Factor-in Disney prices for food and the added service fees/tip:eek: We're DVC, have a rental car, and stop at Publix to stock the room with goodies on the way from MCO to WDW. I envy those who do order room service:)

I figured Wdw would make a big push towards take out and room service during this time. Really surprised and disappointed that’s not the case. Runner can knock on the door, confirm someone is there without them opening the door, and leave the food outside the door. Takeout would be even easier. Call from your room, restaurant boxes it up, masked guest can grab it from the bar or hostess, everything is billed back to the room. Little to no contact and it keeps people out of restaurants where masks are off and shared AC is still questionable.

We do room service a lot. It's called walking to the restaurant or QS and bringing it back to the room. LOL We love the relaxing walk and do not have to pay the ridiculous service fees or a tip. No envy here.
