Anyone Else Love The Pirates Of The Caribbean Ride

This is a family fave with us too!! We laugh everytime at the mangy dog holding the key in his mouth!!pirate:

Love it, love it, love it!!! One of the few rides I remember from my first trip to DL in 1970- I was 4 at the time. My cousin and I screamed the whole way through- I actually thought they were shooting REAL cannonballs at us during the battle scene.

It's a must-see every time we go to WDW, and I don't scream anymore (but I do shiver with excitement when I hear "DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES!").pirate: pirate:

:D

I love Pirates of the Caribbean. This is one of my favorite rides at MK, or anywhere else for that matter. The scenery is great. There's so much detail involved throughout the ride that I see something new each time I ride it.

This was my first ride so it's always been a fav!! One of the best rides was when my daughter and I were the only ones on our ship. Could REALLY sing that time! I hate to be annoying to the other people in the boat!! LOL!!

My absolute favorite from my childhood in the 70's at Disneyland, CA. That ride is my strongest memory of Disneyland. No other attraction has ever come close to it until Tower of Terror.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "musty smell" in the ride - I LOVE it! It wouldn't be Pirates without that smell.

Plus, the Blue Bayou/restaurant area at the beginning (in CA) just can't be beat. WDW dropped the ball when they left that out of the ride in Florida.

DW and I love it too, we never miss it. We took our then DD 16mo on it two years ago and she kinda just took it all in. Now she keeps telling us she wnats to go on the "Pirate Ride" this summer when we go! I hope she loves it too!

I've loved it since my first visit to WDW in 1973. It's a small thing, but I love the animatronic seagull in the bit at the beginning on the island where the skeletons and treasure chest are. It just looks so realistic as it cocks its eye at you as you sail past.

Does anyone know what the differences are between Pirates at WDW and at Disneyland?

It is one of my favorites! I used to think the bullets were real when I was a kid! I love the guy with the hairy leg that sways back and forth as your boat goes under the bridge. It just makes me think of the attention Disney pays to detail.

this ride still gives me the great feeling it gave me when i first experienced it in the 70's. this was my first disney ride and i blame it for my disney addiction.

this will be the first place we head to when we get to disney next week

we better get on the ride soon or my kids will kill me because i have been talking in my pirate voice too much!!!pirate: pirate: pirate:

my son wanted to know what movie i wanted to watch on the plane and of course i told him POTC!!!!

i too, am a PoC fanatic. only i think i love it a little more than all of you. on my disney trip in 2000, we got stuck on that ride for over an hour and guys in wading pants had to move us to the exit! i got an exclusive tour of the back of the ride with my family. :hyper:

The opening scene in longer. You float past the Blue Bayou restaurant with lanterns and fireflys in the trees. It looks like a Louisiana swamp/Bayou scene-very cool. Then you go through many more caves with fog and skeletons. There are 2 drops in Disneyland. The first drop in Disneyland's Pirates is only 1/2 foot shorter than the big drop on Splash Mountain. (Pirates is a 52 foot drop at 21 degrees. Splash is 52 1/2 feet, but the angle is much steeper.) The battle scene with the big pirate ship has more to it. There is a castle/fort with shadows duling (very cool.) The end scene has more to it as well. Anyone else? That is all I can remember.

Thanks, PatriciaH!

Now how can I convince my family that we need to fly halfway (Okay, a third of the way) around the world just so I can go to Pirates in Disneyland ... ?

Ooh, PoC at Disneyland sounds great! Now I have to convince my DH to take me just to see it. He will do WDW b/c we are not too far from Florida, but I am not sure he would be willing to go to California! He will not fly and that is definitely a long drive for us.
