Anyone Else Like Their Resort Room Card Key?

Ok, a silly question.

When we stayed at the Swan in 2003 our plastic room card key has a picture of the Swan/Dolphin resort with Epcot in the background - a nice picture. My DW, DS5 and I all got one and we think they're neat little souveniers. We stayed at the Contemporary in 2000 but I can't remember what the key was. Anyway does anyone else think these are neat?

A.

I like them too. I put them in my scrapbook. I think I have some from 2000 and they are blue with the 2000 logo on them. They have been using the Tinkerbell one for awhile now, I love Tink but it would be neat to have a different character, or maybe a special design for the 50th celebration. Or it would be cool if they had the logo of the specific resort on the front so it would be a little more unique. -Stephanie

Not sure if our DS & DD like the room keys- but somehow the rooms keys find their way back to our home after our WDW vacation.

Hint for children's room keys - only allow room entry - remove any charge privileges.

We only give a room key to our DS - age 14.
Our DD gets one - but we hold it for her.

Judge your children's maturity.
Also, if the room key is lost - immediately go to the front desk - or call your resort from the Park. Have the key strip code changed immediately.

I agree. I think they should be resort specific or at least have the 50th Celebration logo on them in some way. I really hope Tinkerbell isnt on it when we get there in October.

I just called Disney (yes. it was bugging me that much. :)) and the CM went away for a bit and came back and said they contacted the department that handles that and they said that they are thinking of changing it to a 50th Celebration theme card but arent sure yet. They are probably considering the cost ratio there with all the spare Tink cards they already have.

I have kept mine from my first trip, I lost the one from our overnight stay but I have also been on 3 cruises and kept the cards from them as well. I actually put them in my photo album as a souvenir. It would be nice if they were resort specific.

This TINK is one of my favs! I have all the rest in a scrapbook as well. It's so fun to look back over the past 16 years, and see all the different themes. :goodvibes

I thought I was the only one who did this! I kept all our room keys from our 2002 and 2004 trips. They are nice souviniers.

Okay, I'm confused. Probably stupid question but when I think of a room key, I think of the card you swipe in the door to get in your room. Dont you have to give that back when you leave? :confused3

Nope. You can keep it as a keepsake. In fact CBR said they will make DS2 one for him. Even thought he is "along for the ride". Nothing costs anything for him except the airfare. This plastic card is printed with your name and all your other resort and vacation info on the front as well as encoded into the strip on the back..

I really do learn something new everyday on these boards. Thanks alot. Another keepsake I will look forward to. :cheer2:

I think the cards are neat, but I wish they would change them - I'm not a fan of Tink. I think you should get a choice because everyone likes different characters. Or at least change them more often. I also like the above post about them being resort specific.
