I had the radio on an oldies station today and Time in a Bottle was playing. I still have some of his 33 1/3 albums. I may try to find a CD with his greatest hits on it. I love to hear him sing. When I was in college in the early 70's I listened to him, Carole King, James Taylor, and Janice Joplin all the time. I also liked the Allman Brothers. And I had a George Carlin album too. That was many many years ago though!

He was an incredible singer/songwriter....:D

....But there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do, once you find them...

I always liked Jim Croce. James Taylor is also a good singer.

I always loved Jim Croce. He died too soon :(

I love Jim Croce's music!!

"If I could save time in a bottle......."

I always liked him. His cousin, Bob Croce, is also a musician and used to play around here. He sounds like James Taylor. :)

I liked him too....and the others you listed. I was also a Harry Chapin fan, and Simon and Garfunkle. I'm slowly replacing my old albums with cd's....and recently got Tapestry by Carole King and Greatest Stories Live by Harry Chapin.

My record club has 3 cd's for Jim Croce:

Photographs & Memories - his greatest hits
Time in a Bottle - greatest love songs
The 50th Anniversary Collection - a 2 disc-set
(all music has been remastered)

Such a talent.............he died waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too young:( :( :( :( . LIFE is so often unfair; it's MADNESS to see order in the CHAOS of death:( :( .....

All of these are MY kind of music. :D Guess that shows my age.

Both DH and I do too! :) Sad that he died too soon.:(

My boyfriend in High school gave me his album...he said that was our song...after all these years (lots!) I still think about him whenever I hear the song.....Time in a Bottle...
I like Operator too...thats a good one.

Time in a Bottle makes me cry. It is a very sweet song.

I have his greatest hits cd. My kids love to listen to it. Car Wash Blues and Roller Derby Queen are 2 of my favorites on it. I also love to hear Don't Mess Around with Jim, and Bad Leroy Brown.:)

Immortal Words:

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim

Oh, I do!! He was very popular in 1974. That was an incredible year for me and his music played a huge part in that! I have that anniversary collection and I just love it!

A troubadour he was. Missed along with equal poets his contemporaries. Several years ago I was able to dine at the restaurant his wife, Ingrid, operates in San Diego. A nice experience it was.
