Anyone else LIKE El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico??

I remember the first time we went to Epcot, the line for this ride was out the door and down the steps of the pavilion. Luckily the had some problem with the ride that it needed to be closed a little later in the day. We must have walked by soon after it reopened and were able to basically walk on. Since then we have never had any long waits. I enjoy the ride, especially the beginning.

We really like it mainly because it's relaxing and the little ones enjoy it, but I need to know what they're saying in the song, that part drives me crazy...something about " hola mi amigos, da da da da da dad it's fun for everyone...da da da da da da da...

Mexico is always our first stop in the WS. We always ride the ride first then walk around the shop after.

It reminds me of a mix of tourist info and it's a small world.

My 6 year old daughter has called it "Mini-Small World" since she was 2 years old. Not only is it great in the summer when it's super hot...But during the winter nights, it's a great place to hang out until Illuminations! :goodvibes

Totally agree about the food 4/5...We're from California, so we're used to really HOT Mexican food. The chips there are like Tostidos or something. Next time you're there, try the Pollo a las Rajas. It's rather good and not too bland. :teeth:

getting a Margarita at the cantina, then riding ERDT. Last visit we ate their and had a table next to the railing, got to wave to all the people on the ride! It's so relaxing and peaceful in their! :sunny:

Sing with me:

Lala lala laaa la la lala lala laa
Lala lala laaa la la lala lala laa
La la la laaa la la lala lala
La lala lala la
La lala lala laaaa!

Okay, that was pretty incomprehensible, but you know what I mean!

Viva El Rio del Tiempo!!!

(And the street vendors on the screens make me happy, so viva them too.)

I enjoy the ride very much. It is relaxing, cool, well themed, and not much of a wait. What's not to like. :thumbsup2

Y'all have convinced me that I should give it another chance. I've only ridden it once, and that was back in 1993, right after DH told me that we were moving to the Mexican border. So I rode it, hoping and expecting to learn something about Mexico on that ride. Obviously, I didn't, and I was so disappointed that it wasn't what I'd hoped for, I didn't like it and I've never ridden it again. But now that I'll have more realistic expectations riding it, I might enjoy it. It certainly sounds it!
But doesn't that happen sometimes? Where you hate a ride only because it wasn't what you'd expected?

I love it! It such a relaxing ride, the low light. This place cannot be beat on a hot day.

100% agree....i feel like it's a little out-dated, like I've stepped back in time to the 70's for some reason...but I do like it, it's very relaxing.

I like the ride, too, and the way the song gets stuck in my head. The only part that creeps me out is near the end where those people/marionette things are going around on the carousel.

I always make DH ride, but I don't think he likes it too much. This past trip he said, "I guess most people will ride a little boat through just about anything."
:rotfl:

We love this ride...and the pavillion too! We always grab a margarita, wander around comparing the "fake" mexico to the "real" Mexico (we visit Mexico almost as much as we visit Disney  ) and hop a ride on ERDT. Our favorite part is the end where the merchants are following you trying to get you to buy :lmao: So over the top.

now see what you have done i shall be singing and humming that tune all night! i love the ride and the pavilion

Actually my experience in Mexico was just like the end of the ride.. I had a lady come out of her store and litterally grab my arm and drag me in and hand me a tequila sunrise! I think she thought if she got me drunk I would be her 17 tshirts for $10! This was in Cozumel..

I really enjoyed the ride. It was a nice relaxing ride on a hot day that you could get on pretty quickly. Judging by this thread you are not alone when it comes to this ride! :)

LOVE IT LOVE IT

My 10 year old DS and myself love this ride. I love everything about the pavillion. I've eaten there twice. We love visiting Mexico too so this brings us back.

My DS wants to ride it 5 times this year in August. Last year we stayed on it until our dinner pager went off.

We also have a special spot for the Carousel of Progress, not that we don't love the more adventureous rides but these 2 rides we just love.

This is the first ride our kids did be themselves. DH and I were at our table overlooking the water and here comes DD and DS in the front of a pretty empty boat - waving like fools. I will always have a special place in my heart for this ride!

I have always loved Mexico and their boat ride - since I was little. There is something about the inside, it always is so nice, relaxing and cool. It is my favorite country to go to and we always do the boat ride. DD5 now loves it too.
