My son and I leave 9/11 for 7 day western, anyone else concerned now about hurricanes and tropical storms?? Any news on predicted weather then????

Hey, I'm leaving TODAY and I'm concerned. There's a couple tropical storms brewing.

Its far too early to gauge weather for 9/11. If I were you I'd start watching weather channel about one week before. They do tropical updates every hour.

Hi inluvwithpluto, we'll be cruising with you!:) I'm sure we'll be fine on our cruise. I just read a thread and Disney has never cancelled a cruise due to weather. I'm keeping a positive outlook!:teeth: I've read several threads of people that were on cruises durring hurricanes and they said they just traveled around them.

Here is the link to the Tropical Predictioin Center. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml? They have advisiories, maps predictions, etc. You can print out tracking maps if you're interested.

I'm already tracking Depression 5 (not strong enough to be named yet) since it looks like it's heading for Grand Caymen where the Magic will be this week. Fortunately, it looks like it won't get there till after the Magic leaves.

Since DD works on the ship, I keep up with ALL the storms that might affect the Magic.

I am sailing 9/19 on the Wonder, and this is the outlook I am keeping! Fortunately too we are driving in and not dependant on the airports! So here's to clear tropical weather and safe boarding/sailing/departing to all of us!!!!

Hi inluvwithpluto!

I'll be sailing with you too! We arrive in Florida on Friday, Sept 10 just to avoid problems like yesterday's delays (airport not open, flights cancelled due to that and adverse weather all along the east coast). I cruised to Bermuda from NYC the weekend after Hurricane Andrew. We had some rough seas but nothing spectacular.
Remember the ships take great pains to avoid tropical storms. :D
I have very confidence in having a great cruise.::yes::
I watch the tropical update on the Weather Channel. This week the storm was in the Western Caribbean (Grand Cayman and Key West both felt it). Who knows where the next one will be. And if it is in our path then wil wil have what other posters have described as a 'mystery cruise'. As long as I am on the Magic I know that I will have a great time!::yes::
Four weeks from today we'll be in Key West! Yippee!

We fly out on 9/3 for the 9/4 Eastern cruise. We are going to begin developing a backup plan for driving from NEPA to Port just in case there is a similar issue of airport closings, weather delays, etc. It will take about 18 hrs to drive straight there and I don't want to miss the boat because of the airport closing.

It's always good to have a backup plan!

We sail 9/11 as well and I am honestly not worried. We're flying in on 9/9, so we'll be there in plenty of time. If the weather turns bad, we'll adjust and drive instead. Nothing is keeping me off the Magic!

See you in 4 weeks!!!

Erin :D
