I ran the 06 Goofy half from the last corral and in that race the half was a real mess. The course has been revised for the better since that race.
My advice is to look round and pair up with a runner of a comparable pace. More that likely you will find that runner running along the side of the course or just off the edge of the course. Follow that runner, letting them do the work in the tight spots. They may be a little slower than you could run at that moment but by staying 3-5 feet off their tail you let them part the waves. If running off road, watch their hips and try to place your foot in the same spot that they just left. Most of the grassy areas just off the pavement (not on the edge but 2-4 feet off) are not all that bad to run.
Patience is the key. Mile 1.2, 4 through 5 and 7-8 are the tougher spots on the course. Once past that it is generally good. The possible exceptions would be the miles 10-11 on the half and mile 24 of the full. Those are hit and miss depending on your speed and energy in those points of the race.
One other thing I would consider would be running with a throw down bottle of water from the start. The aid stations can be confusing for newer runners and have limited supplies as you go by. Remember as you enter them, even in the back of the pack, the last tables are the ones that will most likely have water. The water bottle will allow you to cruise through a few of the first stops.
Good luck
