In May, I deemed Summer 2010 "The summer of the romper!" It has truly been my summer uniform. I bought 5 of them, of varying patterns and materials and this has been pretty much all I wear, all summer long.

They are all strapless, and they all cost less than $25. I have 3 that are cotton/Tshirt material. One is strictly an "around the house" romper. One is all black and comfy, but I put strappy silver sandals and big earrings with it, and it looks cute enough to go out to dinner in. I also have one that is a white and tan pinstripe, seersucker material that I wear with gold wedges. Of course I have a denim one, too!

So funny...because my mom used to live in those terry cloth rompers (not sure they called them rompers back then.) She had many of them back in the 70s and I have lots of pictures of her wearing them, mainly just around the house.

Anyone else diggin' the romper this summer??:cool1:

BTW-When I first started wearing them, my hubby thought they were so cute. Now, he says, "Ok, honey, enough with the rompers!"

He also hates the name "romper." Says the name is soooo "unsexy!" LOL. He is kinda right.

Ewww, sorry, no. I don't think anyone over the age of 4 should be wearing a "romper".

I'll have to do a search for adult rompers now. To be honest, I don't know what they look like.

I hated them in the 70's and I would hate them now, yuck!!!

Not a big fan of them, but being that I'm almost 50 I have a great excuse to bypass the current fad. Glad your having a good time with them OP!!!

My daughter, who is 19, wears them. She is about a size 2 and they look cute on her. She has a cute one from Hollister and a few she got from Urban Outfitters. I like them because they seem to cover a bit more skin than shorts and a tank.

LOL...well, I asked, right?

Weird, because all my friends wear them, too. Maybe we are some weird romper cult, but I see people wearing them all the time here is SoFla. I have also been asked by many people..."Where did you get your romper?"

Here is a dressy one...

if you google rompers, you will see tons, of varying styles and prices. These are not the terry cloth rompers of the 70s....although I kind of like those, too!

I work out a lot, so I like showing my legs and shoulders. Not so crazy about my belly, and I find the rompers very flattering in that area!:thumbsup2

Sorry, not me. It does seem that this is coming back in style though. I was reading a thread last night about jumpsuits which are the longer version of rompers. I didn't like either in the 70's-80's and I certainly don't like them now that I am quite a bit older and wider.

Pottying with a romper was an issue as a kid and I would have NO patience for it now ;) The halter-top style is cute, I'm sure you look great.

yeah...see, I like jumpsuits, too. Hmm...

the link that I tiny urled to make shorter did not work. Here is a link from Macy's with a ton of them. Mine are not super short like some of these. They go down to the middle of my thigh.

Anyway, I see them at high end stores, and not just in the junior department. I am not really a trend follower, but these work for me. Funny, I never really wore them in the 70s, so maybe that's why I am enjoying the trend this time around?

I am a size 6. I think they look good on sizes bigger than a 2! Not sure what the cut off point is, but I am definitely not there, size wise.

I remember wearing floral rompers in the very early 1990s, maybe (I was either in HS or college) and won't be partaking this time around.

At 36 years old, I really think there is an upper age-limit on who can wear these things, and that number is somewhere in the neighborhood of the legal drinking age, regardless of how good of shape you are in, and I say that as someone who was in great shape before getting pregnant and was often mistaken for being in my mid to late 20s.

These are cute, but the rule of thumb I've learned is "if you wore it when it WAS in style or when you were a child you shouldn't wear it the second time around when it comes BACK in style". hee hee I try to stick to it as much as possible.

I don't like rompers. My gym uniform in school was a romper and I HATED IT. I also dislike having to get fully undressed to go to the bathroom.

I do think they are a passing trend for the younger crowd (early 20s) but definitely not for me and my age group!

I think of it more of an age thing, than a size thing (though that does count). I could see teens and early 20's wearing them and looking cute. I'm not sure what age cut off I would place on it, but at a point it just looks like your trying to look younger than you are, but not cutting it - so it could easily turn into looking silly.
I remember when I was in my early 20's and me and my friends would be out at the clubs dancing and you'd occasionally see these middle aged guys with their balding heads (trying to do the comb over) and pot belly's out trying to be hip. It just came off as sad. Don't know why but I tend to put rompers in the same category.

I disagree. I think a 40 year old woman that works out regularly and lives in south florida should be able to wear shorts that reach her mid thighs, and should be able to wear a strapless top.

Geez, I was in such a happy mood when I started this thread!:sad2: I thought maybe no one would post, never thought I would be ridiculed, but I should have known better, I suppose...I have been on these boards long enough.
