OK, so I almost didn't check in this week because once again I've only maintained and haven't lost anything for the week. I think part of the problem is that I'm about 10 lbs. (11 really) from goal (129) and I've stopped trying as hard I was when I had 30 to lose. I guess I've gotten complacent, thinking that I look pretty good and "is that 10 lbs. really going to make much of a difference?". Of course, I know it will but maybe I just don't want it bad enough? I was in tears this morning after weighing myself because I feel like such a failure - I should be able to do this!!

Everyone tells me that the "last 10" are the hardest and boy are they ever. I lost over 20 lbs. last year and I was only 5 lbs. from my goal and now I've gained 7 of those back. I know that I'm not trying hard enough but I don't know how to get back the motivation I've lost. I only worked out 2 times this week and my eating habits haven't been stellar either. Basically, I need help! I know no one is going to be able to do this for me, but has anyone else been in this slump and how did you get out of it?

I hear you! I am over 10 pounds from my goal, but I've had similar thoughts to yours (I feel ok now so do I really *need* to go all the way?) I got overconfident last week and had more cheat meals than I should have and the scale let me know. I was sooooo P.O.ed at myself for slipping up. At first I tried to convince myself it was a fluke, but then I fessed up and realized I had indulged too many times. Then I got upset and just thought "to heck with it" but not in those words! ;)

THEN I decide to just jump back in. This was all in the course of a day, I think! ;) I know we can't make you do anything, but you did make a post, so I think you are looking for some motivation! :) And a plan! So, how about this...first of all, give yourself a big hug. Then make a small list of things to do starting either today, tomorrow or Monday. Make SURE it's a list of things you KNOW you will do, don't set yourself up to fail. How about something like:

1. Journal what I eat today (then do it every time you have something to eat!)

2. Drink my water for the day (give yourself an easy number of ounces to start with).

3. Walk/run/rollerblade/jump rope/whatever floats your boat for 30 minutes 3 times this week.

There, that's a nice short list. Nothing TOO hard. Journaling your food doesn't mean counting calories or anything, just makes you more aware of what you are eating. You might notice you had a big plate of pasta or something.

Sometimes I get frustrated that I still have some weight to lose. I feel like if I can't lose it by "X", then I'll be a failure. Other days I think, as long as I lose it by Christmas (which I could EASILY do!!) I'll be ok. So don't give yourself a firm target date. Set small goals. If it's coming off slower since it's the last 10 pounds, try for 1.5 pounds every three weeks. That's not bad and you'll definitely reach your goal by the end of the year! :)

Hope this helps. I was just thinking about you like 20 minutes ago!!! So it's great that you posted (I was so happy to see your name when I logged on!) :)

Nicole...I have been there....I have been trying to loose the last 20 pounds for what seems like forever. I see everyone post on the check in thread and though I am so happy for my friends, I feel I am doing something wrong. I started the Alex challenge when he brought it up and it got me going again. I now only have 7 more pounds to loose to reach goal instead of the 15 :teeth:

I have been doing Atkins off and on for 2 years almost. I lost most of it and decided to finish off this year. I think that when you are almost there, your body slows down, and that affects our self esteem ( I know it does with me) I started the week before the WISH challenge, and it has taken me to know to loose 17 pounds...Now that I am close to goal, I have changed it from 129 to 125.

DO not give up...It is really hard not to give up, but you can do it!!! If I can anyone can.PM me or email me if you need to talk!!!

Glo-'s right. YOU CAN DO THIS. Discouragemnet is not unusual when you're stuck, but you are a lucky person! You have lots of friends and supporters here on WISH and we will do our best to help you get through the hard , discouraging days. Sometimes that is the only thing that gets me through days like that! KNowing I have friends that understand and support me is all it takes. Now- please...... just keep posting and reaqding! You'll be surprised how much it helps.

TigH - I'm so honored that you were thinking of me! I promise to check in more often. :) Your list sound like just what I need to get me back in track and it all definitely sounds like something I can handle. So here it goes: I'm going to write down everything I eat this week, I'm going to work out 3 times (at least!) and I'm going to drink 64 ounces of water or more. I'm going to set a small goal for myself too. 5 pounds (so I can get my 1st clippie) by August 1st - nice and slow!

Glo - Thanks for sharing your experience with me! It really helps to know that you've been where I'm at now and are beating it. I'm going to have to check out Alex's challenge since it's been so successful for you. 125 sounds awesome - once I reach 129, maybe I'll try join you there! (Notice I said once I get there?) ;)

karebear1 - You're right, I do have the support of all of you wonderful people, your replies are proof of that! And I do think hanging out around here will be a big help and keep my mind on my goal. Thanks!

Thank you all so much, it makes me feel good to know you're all here just when I needed you most! (Hey, isn't that a song?) lol!

I am not sure what program you are doing, but our WW leader this week mentioned this problem. She gave some great advice. She said that you should become a new member again.... what that means is measure everything, record everything, reread your first books etc. I hope this helps.

You can do it! Your idea of small goals will definetely get you there!

You can do this. It took me awhile to finally lose my last 10, but I did it. Just take one day at a time and remain patient.

Nicole, you will never know how badly I wish I could answer yes to this question and/or had some experiences and suggestions for a solution for losing those last ten pounds. Seriously.

Sadly, I haven't had that experience. I've never been that close to goal. Pathetic, huh?

PRINCESS VIJA - Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not doing WW, I'm basically just counting calories/watching portion sizes and trying to exercise more, but your idea is still helpful. I spent a lot of time online yesterday reading "dieting" websites and messageboards and getting lots of movitating tips. It made my attitude much better!

believe - Thank you!! And congrats on reaching your goal!

nativetxn - I have NO DOUBT that you will make it within 10 lbs. of your goal and then reach it!! You've got such a great attitude and you're doing so well. But you made a point, I should be grateful for what I have lost and that I've made it within these last few lbs.

Thanks again, you all and enjoy your weekend!

Now, see, Nicole? This is exactly why I'm so glad that you are part of my support group.

You have given me renewed hope that I will indeed be at goal someday. Thank you!

Katholyn
