We bought the blueray version and it will not work on any of our blueray players, we checked all 3! The regular dvd that came with it is fine, just not the blueray disc.

Anyone else having similar issues?

I don't have one, but I saw a very similar thread over on the Budget Board ~ you might wanna check over there too.

Some BluRay players require an update available through the manufacturers website. Our Samsung was only 6 months old when we got four dvds in a row from Netflix that wouldn't play. The "fix" wouldn't work though. We canceled Netflix. All the BluRays we buy work fine.

Yeah we tried the the updates as well and still a no go :(

I wonder if Best Buy will exchange it for us, I hope so!!

I hope they will. Does it just say "loading" forever and nothing happens? That's what ours would do.

I had this problem with my BluRay. Even though the player is only one year old, it stopped playing some DVD's. It would just sit there loading forever. What you need to do is update the firmware (software) on your machine. It sounds intimidating but it was actually pretty easy to do. Just go to the web site for your player and check for firmware updates for your model. Click on the file and download it to your computer. You will need to probably need to burn this file to a cd that you will then put in your BluRay player to update the firmware. It pretty much runs the update itself, the only important thing to remember is to not interrupt this process. Apparently this can damage your player.

You could take the player back for a refund but I think that eventually you will run into this problem with any BluRay player. These machines are really just a specialized type of computer and are designed where it is expected that people will have to update the firmware from time to time.

DH is a comp. nerd ( I mean that with love) so that was one of the first things we tried doing. His computer is set to run blu ray too and that updates daily and it wouldn't work on there either...

The good thing is-all of the dvd players are updated right now :)

The blu ray definitely does not work on the Sharp BD players. The easiest solution for me was to take the Sharp player back to Costco where I purchased it and they gave me an exchange for another player. I picked out a Sony for a few bucks more and all is well now.
