Anyone else have this concern?

We are flying out of Calgary to MCO via Toronto on Nov. 2, the same day as the elections in the states. I'm hoping someone can convince me that there is probably nothing to worry about in relation to possible terror threats on that day. I'm expecting the security to be pretty extensive that day (and I'm glad of it), but I'm having trouble calming my nerves. Anyone else feeling the same, or am I just a great big worry-wart? (I'd be happy for someone to tell me I am :D )

Your A Big Worry Wart!

Relax!

If there is heightened security just be prepared to wait longer in lines.

I'm planning on it taking longer to go over the border which is why we're leaving in the middle of the night or right after work the day before.

I told someone I was going to Florida a few days after the election and they wanted to know if I was going to help them count ballots.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Anyone remember a "hanging Chad"?

Don't start worrying until that day because we have no control and why waste these looong days before our vacation worrying about customs etc.

See you south of the border.

 I thought I was the only one concerned about this! We don't fly out until the 5th but it's still in the back of my mind. I try not to worry too much. Should we expect extra security at the airports all week?We are flying out of Detroit. As far asi'm concered the more security the better. Are there any Americans that can give us any ideas as to how the border crossing and airports will be following the election or maybe we are just concerned for nothing:wave:

Scratch - Thanks!

Susan and Little Red's Mom - Thanks for the support.

I fully expect to wait a little longer to get through security. We arrive in Toronto at about 6:30am and have about 3 and a half hours before we depart for MCO. Originally the plan was to grab our luggage and head out of the airport for breakfast. Now.... we're just going to grab our luggage and head over to security (just in case). Personally, I don't mind waiting and having security double and triple check everyone and everything - gives me peace of mind.

Of course you'll notice that despite my concerns - there was no way I even considered changing my trip dates! I've been trying way too long to talk my SO into a trip to the WORLD! (he had no desire to go - that is until he opened his birthday gift to find that I'd booked him into the Richard Petty Driving Experience)

Thanks again everyone!

momtolittlered.... did I read on another thread that you will be at POR Nov 6-12th? We'll be there then as well! Maybe we'll run into each other at the pool!!!

The thought crossed our minds, but with the expected increased security it may actually be one of the safest times to travel.

Besides I could think of much worse places to be stranded.
