Anyone else have friends or family who basically think you're a fool

I don't see that my post suggested that I think I know whats better for anyone. Not sure how you read that into my post. I love to cruise, but I know a lot of people that are like "meh" I wouldn't like that. I was one of those people until I decided to give it a try and I absolutely love it. It's my first choice for any vacation. I always encourage people that are negative about cruising to give it try they might be pleasantly surprised. I respect your choice to vacation at WDW every year. I was just curious as to why someone would want to? I don't think you have to give defensive about it like you said your money... your choice.
Here is our reason for returning to WDW yearly: My husband and I have had careers with intense and stressful schedules. Lots of travel, long work days, stressful interactions with clients, physically demanding days, etc. have been constant for us, so when we go on vacations, it's a mad dash to the finish just to get out of town. When we get to our destination, we want to relax IMMEDIATELY and for us, returning to a familiar place helps us to do that. We also used to visit Negril, Jamaica yearly for the same reason and intend to resume those trips when our son is a little older. Hilton Head has become our beach spot in the meantime. I look forward to more worldwide travel someday, but for now when our vacation time is limited to a few weeks per year, we'll stick to our spots that allow us to auto-decompress. When we have more time off and feel like we can spend enough time in an international destination to relax and warrant the long, expensive flights, then those types of trips could be considered a vacation, but not now, it would be more stressful than restful.

I have not find anyone that thought we were fools for staying on site. Now I agree 100% with @cruiser21 I will not I understand why people will ONLY go to Disney. Our vacations have never only been to Disney and I think if anything we will be seeing a lot less of Disney and more of the amazing places and experiences the world has to offer I would totally understand why people would think that is foolish.
