Anyone else have a really bad cat?

About a year and a half ago my boyfriend and I adopted two cats. Not long after that he moved out and took the cats with him. A month ago a coworker who lives next door to exboyfriend said he moved out and left the cats outside to fend for themselves. One of the cats ran away (haven't seen him at all) and the other one was sitting on the back step, so I took him home with me.

So the first week or two was great. What a good little kitty. Then he started being a brat. He demands attention. Between my fiance and I he gets plenty of attention. There are no kids in the house and we have no other pets. Last night I was reading the Dis boards and Ramsey thought he should be on my lap. I nicely told him no and set him on the floor several times. He just kept jumping back up. Then I said no firmly. The next time he tried to jump up again he clawed himself up my leg. When I tried to get him off of me he just held on tighter. I have scratches up my leg now. He does this stuff all the time. He swats at me when I walk by him and sometimes he even comes over and bites my feet.

He also doesn't want me to sleep. He keeps bothering me all night so now he is shut out of the bedroom at night. So now he sits outside the door and meows. Not a normal meow. It sounds like he's dying or something! I've been ignoring him, but he won't stop.

He jumps on the counters, walks across the coffee table, scratches all of the furniture (he has a scratch pad, but he licks it instead of scratching it  ) and meows constantly....he doesn't shut up! I think he's trying to drive me insane.

I want that good little kitty back that I had a couple of weeks ago! I've tried the water bottle and even though he doesn't like water he still keeps being bad. I always had dogs growing up. We had some bad puppies, but nothing like this. They didn't force me to pay attention to them constantly. Are all cats like this? Can cats be trained at all? The only good thing he does is he always goes in the litter box.

Help!

Michelle

Is he neutered? That may have something to do with the attention seeking behavior. Also, he may be missing his other little kitty friend, so you may want to adopt another. I found that 2 cats entertain each other, and want less from me!!

I have 8 cats and no they aren't all like that, but my baby is. Isis is a one year old Maine Coon who demands my attention 24 hours a day! Right now he is on my shoulder asleep. He must be in my lap, on my head and if he wants love in the middle of the night I must wake up and give it to him. Believe me I have my share of scratch marks from him climbing up me while I fix dinner.

I don't know I guess I don't look at it as him being bad although DH calls him my bad boy. Hes just a mama's baby and wants with me all of the time.

I do have a few more loving cats, but Isis is my baby!!!!

He is neutered. I thought about getting another cat, but I don't know. Actually, that's why we ended up with two cats before. We adopted Ramsey first. He acted then just like he is acting now. We adopted the second cat to give him a buddy to keep him company. Instead of things getting better they got worse. He didn't want as much attention from us, but I had two bad cats scratching the furniture and climbing on the counters instead of one! They raced each other through the apartment at night. I ended up buying a huge cage to put them in at night so I could get some sleep. When he did want attention he resorted to the same biting and scratching if we were busy.

I guess if he's not trainable I could handle the scratching the furniture and climbing on the counters part. I can't handle a cat that is going to follow me around and terrorize me all day.

I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. I would never be mean to him and I do give him alot of attention. I don't ignore him. That's why I don't understand why he has to resort to doing bad things to get my attention.

All my kitties are like that. They MUST always be on my lap or in my bed!::yes::

BTW - I wouldn't have it any other way;)

I wouldn't have it any other way either.

Don't get me wrong I have definatly gotten annoyed with Isis before especially if I'm cooking and hes climbing my leg, but then I look into that face and I just can't stay mad!!

I think your poor little kitty is having a very hard time training you. ;) :teeth:
