I fly out with a group of friends who are staying in an offsite hotel and dont have park tickets for the saturday so I will be a single parent with my little girl age 5.

How friendly is it to those of us on our lonesome with a child?

Is there anyone else going to be there this date erhaps maybe wouldn't mind a tag along, I should be there by about 2.

Also any tips for people in my situation?

I worry about being put in a room really far away from reception at the seuoia lodge in the hotel and that if there was an emergency I would have problems or that being placed so far away someone might break in whilst we are sleeping and attack us (ott i know but I just worry, I have never done this before).

Also how busy is it on the walk back round the lake at night to the hotels around 8ish, is it busy and well lit?

I took DS and DD half a day by myself at MK. It was not bad at all. DH had to get some sleep so he went back to the hotel.

We did some of the character meet and greets, rode rides, watched the parade and fireworks, and looked through the stores while everyone else was rushing out. If you have time I would not leave right after the park closes. We sat on a bench and waited. Then we went to the different stores.

My kids were 2 1/2 and 4 months. If I can do it with 2 at that age then you could definitely do it with your DD with no problem. I wish we could go that day since that is my DD's 1st birthday. Have fun.

I have never felt the least bit uncomfortable in WDW either alone or with my daughter. I always stay on WDW property and have always felt safe no matter what the time of day/night. Have a wonderful trip!!

Were staying at the SL from 21st of november for 2 nights. We stayed there before and the walk around the lake at night is really good......theres plenty of lighting and from what i can remember very safe looking.

Welcome to the DIS tetley02

I went with my DD when she was five, and we had a lovely time just the two of us. Poor thing wasn't even very well while we were there, but we still enjoyed our quality time together. :goodvibes

I've never felt concerned for my safety in the hotels though I make sure that I'm sensible. The door will have a good lock on it, which I always use when I'm in the room. You could also ask for a room on any level except the ground floor.

The lake isn't particularly busy at night, but it is well lit. Again I wouldn't think twice about walking round there - just me and my girl! :)

Hi Tetley

I'm sure you and your daughter will have a great afternoon together! I went with mine in August and we actually preferred it to the previous year when we travelled with a small group of friends & their children, the reason being that instead of going where the group wanted to go, we could do our own thing. It was nice "quality time" as the Americans say.

Make use of the free maps of the park/studios/village, they are easy to follow. As for walking along, the 2 of you will be fine, everything is well sign-posted and not at all intimidating.

I always go alone with DD (she was aged 5 first time we went).
I love it, as others have said, you can do what the pair of you want to do, without having to follow others or wait on other members of a bigger group.

Never felt unsafe at our Disney hotel either.

Enjoy being princesses together!

Elaine
