Received this in my email and before I ran the scan that they are suggesting, I wanted to see if anyone has received this. It doesn't appear to be a virus, but I don't want to take any chances!!

Hello,

Within the past week we informed you about the possibilities of AdWare and SpyWare applications infecting your PC's hard drive. You may have taken the time to visit the free scan here:
http://whtyxhsbxthtfytcnsruxfzicmcp60s32.mailserverwatch.com/

But we didn't notice that you actually ran the scan. If you did run the scan then please delete this email, and we thank you for taking the time to clean up your PC's hard drive.

If you didn't run the free scan, then once again we urge you to run it to check for any adware and spyware infections that can cause harm to your PC.

The free scan can be accessed here:
http://whtyxhsbxthtfytcnsruxfzicmcp60s32.openbsdmailservers.com/

Once again,if You have recently noticed that your computer's connection to the Internet has been much slower than usual, if your home page has been switched, if more tool bars have been showing up on your web pages, if more pop-ups have been slowing down your PC, then you are most likely infected. AdWare and SpyWare applications can infect your PC when you, or someone else who uses your PC, searches the Internet and downloads movies, music, games, screensavers, or images.

Please take just a few moments to scan your PC to make certain that you are safe from these infections. Press below to begin the scan:

I have received no notification from Ad-Aware recently, and I have a licensed, registered copy of their AdAware software. Also, the site this email is pointing you to is not a secure site. Personally, I wouldn't go there. If you want the software, you can download it for free from Lavasoft.

Sounds suspicious to me!

I would never run something from a link in an email. I'd go to AdAware's website and nose around to see if they are promoting something. If they are, it will be there.

I'd delete that email pronto!

i didn't receive that email either. i would forward it to adaware. someone may have hacked into their system. definitely dont follow the link!

I also have a licensed, registered copy of the AdAware software.
I did not receive an e-mail.

We also have Ad-Aware and have not received that e-mail.

I didn't get that either. It sure is written well isn't it?

I wonder though if my AdAware and the new screensaver I downloaded are causing my router problems.

We have adaware and did not get any email..... don't do it!!

I copied and forwarded the email to lavasoft (where I downloaded the ad aware program from). What got me suspecious is that I didn't receive the first email they are saying they sent me!! It looks so legit!!

I got something from support@adelphia that looked totally real. I am so glad I called first. They had not sent it, and someone was sending links to viruses that appeared to be from Adelphia.

Things seem to have broken loose in the past week or so. I had never received a virus until last week. Now I am getting 3 or 4 a day! Thank heavens for Norton Anti Virus! It keeps catching them.

Where does that email reference Ad-Aware? I see where it mentions adware and spyware, but not Ad-Aware.

Wow! I didn't notice that! I didn't even notice the missing A....wonder if that is intentional?? I have no clue but I sure as heck aren't doing anything with that email!! :earseek:

Good point Indyman!
I read the Adaware in the OP subject line and I assumed........ah well, that's what comes from assuming.....
