Hi,
I have to admit to being a bit obsessed with the daily movement of the £v$ exchange rate. I noticed yesterday that £ was falling back against the $ as it has for the last few days (probably due to interest rates remaining on hold and bad trade figures) So when I checked the BBC's finance page today I was surprised to see the £ had risen by more than 2 1/2 cents to $1.9844. If this correct that is a very large movement at the end of a trading day. Oddly CNN have the same rate but the New York Times have a much lower one.
Any comments?

Just found this info re the sudden drop of 5cents to the £ -

The U.S. dollar rose during Friday`s trading in New York. The greenback saw strength against the pound, euro and yen as the Fed announced the resignation of Governor Susan Bies and St. Louis Fed President Poole said that inflation would likely fall this year.

i went to get some on friday but it had dropped 2 cents so I never bought them. now how sad is that , as if 2 cents is going to make much difference

For looking at historical and current rates I like dailyfx's chart, you can change the Timescale at the top and set it so it updates with every tick right down to 1 month data back to 1983. You can see the dip in 1985 when we got $1.05/£ so glad its not stilll down there.
You need the latest version of Java installing to see it.

Hi,
I guess the rise on Friday I mention earlier must have been a typo as the BBC web page is showing a fall although Ceefax page 200 is still showing a large rise. Just shows you can't believe all you read..!!
