Anyone else feel guilty planning a trip to WDW with a war going on?

Truthfully, no I don't feel guilty. That is what they (the iragi's and terrorists) want us to do - cancel our lives and then that makes them win. I refuse to give in to that thought and I refuse to give in to them. We are being protected by the troops and men and women that are overseas and training in our country for a reason. To feel safe and go on with our lives. I'm almost positive that if anyone of those military family's had plans, that most likely they would be going forth with those plans because that is what would be wanted for them. Granted if they go through with them they have the man or woman in their minds at all times, but we can't just stop our lives waiting for something to happen.

We just returned last night from WDW. I didn't feel the least bit guilty about going because staying home wouldn't have helped in any way. If cancelling the trip would have helped the war effort, I wouldn't have hesitated but I think it's best to keep our sickly economy plugging along as best we can. And WDW and the travel industry in general certainly don't need any more blows! Plus it may be selfish but for many reasons, I needed this escape.

I hope that you go and have a great time.

I didn't take the time to read through everyone's posts, but I'll tell you that my aunt, uncle and 4 cousins are in Disney right as we "speak". Their oldest son is a Marine in the first recon group....he wanted them to go.

That says it all for me.

I think it would be a shame to allow the horrendous events of the war to make us afraid to live our lives (I won't say to live them normally, because life hasn't really been normal since 9/11). We as a people woke up to the hard fact that we are not safe and that something truly horrible could happen to us and our country. I choose to go about my daily life in as normal a fashion as possible, and vacations are part of that life.

I have been saturated in the war for the last week (I have XM Radio in my car and listen to the war broadcasts at home and in the car) and have cried and been heartsickened with our casualties, the loss of lives and capture of others in the war. Their sacrifices are for US, to ensure that we can live the way we do live, and not under a dictator or a nut like Saddam. Widescale cancellations of vacations and travel would deal a devastating blow to an already hurt tourisim industry.

I sat down last night and went ahead and booked my reservations for PRFQ for my vacation in December. God willing, this war will well be over by that time. God Bless America
