I have an interesting perspective. I grew up going to Disneyland, but then since my family later moved east, I ended up moving to Florida and worked at WDW for over 8 years as an adult. I have very fond memories of both, and I love both. What I find the biggest difference between the two (other than size) is just the general vibe- the guests themselves.
WDW feels like "World Class Tourist Destination." It's huge, and families sometimes save years to go- it may be a once in a lifetime experience. I've also noticed you see a whole lot more strollers and ECVs there than you do at Disneyland.
DL, on the other hand, has this vibe of "this is our special park." It's a local attraction with a far greater percentage of repeat visitors as well as park guests who are only there for a day or two instead of making it a whole vacation. When I go to DL, I get asked all the time at cash registers if I have an AP- because the CMs are used to that being the case!
Another interesting observation I've had is that Disneyland seems to get a higher percentage of hardcore Disney geeks than WDW because more people are able to make frequent return trips and because of it's proximity to LA (I'm guessing). The crowds at DL have a lot more groups of teens and young adults than at WDW which has mostly families and if you see groups of young people, they are usually CMs on their college program. I now live in San Jose, CA, and have been amazed at how many people I've met who regularly make that 6 hr drive to DL! In FL, many local people see Disney as the "big, mean, employer."
However, I have not noticed any overall difference among the CMs between coasts. I've met very kind CMs in both places.
