:dance3: :cheer2:  I sure am..............it allows the DVC'ers that don't own at popular resorts....to have much better chances to get into other fave resorts at the 7 month window. I am happy about that.

With BLT being right there? Might be a stupid question but just wondering. :goodvibes

I'm not sure you'll see much of a difference. Yes, there's a new property, but that just means that there are going to be lots of new members or current members with more points. The BLT members will either use their points at BLT or choose to stay at one of the other DVC properties so I don't think things will change that much. The smaller properties (VWL, BCV) will still be in high demand, as will resorts near a particular event (BCV/BWV at F&W time, etc.).

I don't think so. BLT members aren't going to go only to the MK. They'll go all over property, just like those that stay at the other properties.

I do think that the parks will be a bit more crowded, property-wide, simply because there are more on-site hotel rooms/units, but I don't think you'll notice much of a difference.

More members competing for more spots. Same diff no?

I was hoping for an impact on the resale market.

Yeah, I too dont think it will open up more "windows" at resorts like BCV. Another DVC resort = more people w/ DVC = more people competing for the same thing.

However, I do think BLT will help the low price of DVC resale come up.

DVC only accommodates for about 2-3% of the attendance at the parks. Plus, I don't think DVC introduces too many new people to WDW... I think it is more the other way around WDW visitors getting introduced to DVC. I'm guesing there will be no noticeable difference.

:)

WHY?

I own at BCV. I am not chaging my vacation plans to stay at BLT. So I didn't just open up a room for you. If others are like me....
The Epcot group tends to be fairly loyal especially at popular times.

On the postive side, I rarely contribute to the crowds at MK!

Why do you think this is going to happen?

Yep, it will have an impact on BCV and BWV particularly. After a few years, many of those who buy into BLT will realize they can try, at 7 months, to get a prime Epcot resort and walk to two parks for a point cost that is less than the lousy standard view at BLT.

Another line of thought is that it may make booking even more difficult at other resorts at 7 months because people maay be trying to avoid the higher point structure at BLT. For some nights BLT takes 50% more points for standard view than OKW.

For instance, standard view studios in adventure season BLT 12 pts weeknights, OKW 8. For a 7 to 10 day vacation, that difference adds up. Especially when you get into larger units.

A 10 1 bedroom stay at OKW 192 pts. Standard view BLT 250.

I actually think this is a big issue. I think it's going to make booking at SSR and OKW harder at 7 months as those folks realize how much longer you can stay! I think that the big group who might "jump" to a lower points group will be those who when they called at 11 months wound up with "Standard" view. Your choice a shorter vacation looking at a parking lot or a longer vacation...... :confused3 (me I would go with longer, but what do I know!)

Well I think to start with current DVC'ers and new ones will be staying at BLT to check it out....and therefore probably giving us 7 month window folks a good shot at booking the popular resorts. At least I hope so. We stayed at BCV last summer in July and had no problems booking at the 5 month window but plan on calling 7 months out from now on.

But there are only so many units at BLT. If there's "no room at the inn" then members will have to book elsewhere, keeping demand at the other resorts high. And remember that there will be lots of new BLT owners looking to stay at their own property, and to perhaps trade into existing properties. So, the number of DVC units available and the number of DVC members are both going to go up, keeping demand at all of the resorts steady.
