We just got back from the eastern Magic and we were the Family of the Week. on Sunday, we received a letter from Cath in Guest Services informing us and as a result we received a lot of nice perks each day. Some examples - room service arrived almost each day at around 5:00 with goodies such as fruit, cheese platter, sodas and bottled water, canapes. We also got tickets for Tea with Wendy and the Bridge Tour, and, free raft rentals on CC. My DD's also received goodies such as buttons, My Little Pony
dolls. It was so nice! I never asked how we were chosen so I was wondering if anyone else ever was Family of the Week?

Were you in a category 1, 2 or 3?

Just curious if you need to be up there in category to be family of the week.

How cool is that!? Did not even know there was a Family of the Week. Congratulations!

I didn't know there was a family of the week either but it sounds like you all enjoyed it!

I have heard of it. I think that Disney just randomly picks one family. It just shows how Disney goes that extra mile the make your cruise as magical as possible. That's something your family will always remember. (And I'm sure the kids loved the surprises they got ::yes:: )

We were family of the week back in Jan. on our 3 night Wonder cruise. We were in a cat. 10 secret porthole. We would just get plates of "goodies" in our room every afternoon & evening. It really was pretty neat. No toys or anything for the kids...also no free Castaway Cay rentals, but we were only on a 3 nighter.

Wasn't it a neat feeling?? We also got a nice little Disney Cruise Line certificate that says we were the family of the week.

The family right behind us while waiting to board was selected for family of the week.

Did not see them anytime during the week to ask them what they received.

Were they picked during embarkation?

How did you find out that you were Family of the Week?

It sounds like a great program!:)

To answer some of your questions - we were in a category 9 on Deck 2. We found out on Sunday when we recieved a letter from guest services. We also received a certificate which we have placed in a DCL frame. It was very cool!

We were also chosen as "Family of the Week". We got most of the goodies mentioned earlier, plus arcade cards each day for our two children. It was GREAT! It definitely made the vacation very magical for all of us.

I was told that one of the Guest Services Managers selected our family because my daughter approached him for pin trading and he thought that she was really cute. I guess they just walk around and select a family randomly on the first day, it's not a computerized process.

this is so cool and very nice that they do this. I never knew about it until now.

Our very first cruise with Disney, we were the "Dining Room Family of the Week" and got interesting and delicious food items nightly. It was quite a surprise and treat!!!

We were chosen as the Group of the Week on our April 2003 Western cruise. We were chosen by Kadir and the pool bar manager...our group was 29 adults and kids and needless to say we had our fare share of the "Drinks of the Day" by the adult pool. We received DCL bags, glasses, coosie holders, shot glasses, light up plastic ice cubes, etc. It was pretty cool and we found out we were chosen about half way thru our cruise.

Isn't this cool? Just another way that Disney adds those special magical surprises. :D
