My youngest daughter's birthday was yesterday. She is now 15! Since she is a huge animal lover I wanted to get her something with that in mind. She is now the proud "parent" of a Golden Lion Tamarin monkey and a manatee named Ariel!
When we visited the Washington National Zoo last April, she fell in love with the cute little GLT monkeys, so I made a donation in her name to the zoo and she received a cute plush GLT monkey, photograph, adoption certifcate and fact sheet. I also adopted for her, in her name, a rescued manatee who resides at Homosassa Spring Wildlife Park in Florida. She received a packet of information, along with a photograph of "her" manatee. She was thrilled with these gifts.
Has anyone else ever adopted a species, and if so, which one? I think it makes a wonderful gift for someone who loves and cares about animals. Depending on which species you adopt, the money goes toward the care of zoo animals, saving/protecting endangered species, rescuing injured animals, and in any number of other ways that help these animals.
The neat thing about "her" manatee is that we can visit her on our next trip to Florida!
