Anyone else eagerly awaiting reviews of the "improved" Wishes Dessert Party?

I'm going to the "new" dessert party tonight 7/6! Guess I'll be the DisGuinea Pig for this event. It's been a couple of years since I did the dessert party--so hopefully I can remember what's different from the previous parties (aside from the price). I'll keep you posted!

Whamma! Have a fabulous time tonight. SO jealous!

Can't wait to hear how it goes! I am pretty sure we are going to cancel ours because the time got changed for Wishes that night and it is a bit too late for our schedule... we did the old party a couple of times so I definitely want to try the new one, but crying kids will ruin it for me more than the price hike so I will probably wait a year or two.

I don't know, I think the price increase would bother me more than the crying kids. :goodvibes Actually what would be terrible is having crying kids, paying the price increase, and the sparkling, non-alcoholic apple juice/cider turns out to be flat. Now that would really ruin it. :lmao:

The Frozen and Star Wars packages seem to be a really good value. The new Wishes party doesn't seem to be so much at first glance. The old Illuminations party was a pretty good deal. It included various sparkling wines, aka champagne. I think we paid just barely over the new Wishes price for the Epcot one last summer.

We did the frozen dessert package last December in HS, $89 per person. I couldn't drink enough Bailey's Hot Chocolate!!

We did it on 6/24 before the price increase and all the "upgrades" were present. While we thought that the pre-party cider toast, lanterns and table cloths were a nice touch, we could do without the sweaty cheese ( cheese + 100% humidity = no bueno, k Disney? ), grapes that everyone put their hands on ( no thank you, that's disgusting ), the additional lemonades and chocolate covered strawberries ( which I swear we had the strawberries the first time we did this, back in 2013... I need to pull up our trip pics and look ), and we are having a issue with justifying paying the increased price. Not to mention that we had almost all these same desserts some where along the course of our trip at other places. For the four of us to do this again when we return, it will cost us $200.

Don't get me wrong, the view, setting, and not having to stand amongst 353,586 sweaty people and their overstimulated and exhausted children to enjoy Wishes are all priceless attributes, but for $200 can we at least get some non dairy alternatives to the milk and ice cream?

Thanks so much for posting this! I was skeptical that the table cloths would materialize. And, yes, they did have chocolate covered strawberries in 2013 but they were gone by our next trip in November 2014 (in fact, the dessert selection was truly pitiful in 2014 so I was really hoping for increased variety...sounds like that is not really the case, but, perhaps, they were holding out for the new price starting on July 5?).

We had chocolate-covered strawberries on August 5 2014! I am so happy I could do it last summer because I don't think it's worth it with the price hike.

We had them on August 9, 2014! Maybe they got rid of them after August? We are doing it again, we figure what isn't expensive at Disney and it is a special trip (my mom and sister are coming with us). It might be the last time we do it but if we find that it is still a good experience we will continue to do it each trip.

I just heard that this is $49 a person now. That is really expensive. But Disney knows that there will always be people that buy their product at any price.

I'm curious to see what it's like now too.

Whoops, was thinking of the other party! *dumbbbbbbbb*

Yeah, if I were to see "sparkling cider" I'd assume alcoholic, and I'm from the States.

Sparkling in the states has always been non-alcoholic from what I've seen.
Around NYE, the supermarkets always carry 'sparkling grape', 'sparkling apple' and various other sparkling fruits in champagne-like bottles. Sparkling generally just means carbonated.

All things considered, $49 isn't really expensive to many once you deduct the amount of dessert eaten vs. if you bought and sampled that many things throughout the park.
It'd probably cost me $30+ to eat/drink the amount I and many others I see at the dessert party, if we were just in the countries. Which brings it down to "Is it expensive to pay $19 or less for the convenience of viewing the fireworks instead of searching or camping out for spots, being yelled at by CM's for standing on ledges or dealing with the ignorant park guests who decide that their best view is directly in front of you. That intangible aspect of convenience is worth $$$$ to many.

I don't think it's worth it, because we weren't impressed at all by the dessert offerings and we've had better views by walking up around the park only 15-20 minutes before the show. All while being satisfied with dessert from the countries AND alcohol, for maybe $30 total for two, as compared to $98 per couple at the dessert party.

Karamell-Kuche Germany or Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie France
Two large (far better quality) dessert items EACH: $20
Walking up to similar or better viewing spots: $0

$20 vs $98...

And that free, potentially better viewing spot likely gets us out ahead of the crowds quicker too lol.

Where exactly does it take place?

In an entirely different park, lmao. I was thinking of Illuminations after I read through some posts lol. My outlook still stands...for Epcot! :badpc:

We did Wishes in 2012, if it's the same as before, it's Southeast of the castle front, next to the Plaza restaurant.

Ha-ha I was talking about illuminations. ;)

We have a reservation Aug 15th. So I have been wondering what was worth the extra cost.
