A friend of mine tried to book a room at the All Star Movies (Standard View) for October 10 - October 13 and there was nothing available. In fact, All Star Sports in a standard view was also booked solid for that weekend. That coupled with the fact that I have not been able to get an AP rate for ANY days I will be there is making me nervous!

While, I don't mind crowds, wall to wall people isn't too appealing to me :( :( Anyone else getting concerned??

Dear Dagny ,
My family and I will be in the "World" for Columbus day also and we've decided to stay out of the 4 parks and use the day to either hang out by the pool or go to Blizzard Beach and then at night to Pleasure Island . I'm not sure exactly how bad the crowds will be so I've decided to be safe not sorry . As far as the availability of ASMo for that weekend I can tell you that when I booked our trip back in Feb. (FTP) I was told that there was nothing available there for the FTP package so we booked ASSp , which I was told only had a few rooms left . Just a point of reference .
Good luck and have a great trip !

We will be there 10/10-10/14 and I'm afraid its going to be crowded. I talked to a CM the other day and he warned me to make sure my plans were in order, ie ps's made. because Oct. was booked. I also got curious and played around on the Disney site and saw that 8 of the 14 resorts were no longer taking room reservations. So I assumed this meant they were full. I'm praying that the locals will stay home for the Columbus weekend.

8 out of the 14 resorts are booked - very scary :( :(

We will be there October 8 through October 14, doing MNSSHP on the 10th. I am hoping that we at least get a nice Thursday and Friday without huge crowds. Oh well, I will be in WDW - it can't be too bad, right?

and was told no availability at all. I even called at 6:59 AM the morning they came out... I think it will be much busier than Oct usually is, but don't forget that Oct is also a big convention month. If we're lucky, a lot of rooms will be booked, but not so many in the parks. Also, even after Columbus Day, locals are off the following Thurs & Fri, adding to the crowds. I think it will be busy no matter when you go, although the FTP, MNSSHP, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving (think it's Canadian), school breaks, etc. will add to normal crowd levels. We are taking advantage of MNSSHP to have extra time at MK, since tickets are limited. Good Luck & have a wonderful trip!

We're going the 4th through 12th. We booked FTP at Movies back in May through the 11th. After we bought airline tickets I tried to book room only for Saturday night at Movies and had to get sports premium room. Also the MK is open until 10:00 on Oct 9 - they just changed that. So yes I imagine it will be getting crowded that weekend. Someone did post though about being at AKL and a lot of rooms are being renovated. Perhaps they are doing that at many other resorts as well and so those rooms are out of inventory - a hopeful thought anyways!

I am just so excited that we only have 24 more days!!! The MK is open late twice and we'll be at MNSSHP!

We'll also be at Disney Oct 13-18!!! It'll be our first time at MNSSHP (we've done MVMCP three times and Love it!!!)

I was hoping for smaller crowds, but we'll just go with the flow! Hopefully, we'll have some great COOL weather!!!!

We can't wait for the party on Oct 14!!!

I can't tell whether to be worried or not, but I think it will be crowded. I did get tickets to the MNSSHP (our first Halloween trip) for two nights anticipating that the Friday night of our visit might be crowded, and we might feel that we had missed something.

I tried to change some of my PS's last week (my cousins are joining us for part of the trip, so I really could use some more seats at some of the meals now) for October 10-15-- and could not change one-- lots of the character meals were booked solid and some of the other restaurants did not have any decent times available.

We were there over Memorial Day and the week before that in May-- and I could easily make the PS's for the same character meals two and three weeks prior to that visit (and this time at five and six weeks out I couldn't do a thing). So I can't decide whether to plan on follow the "anal retentive" itineraries found in the tour books or do my own thing.

Just remember that POFQ is closed for rehab.
and Polynesian will have 3 buildings closed for rehab that month.
and Pop Century doesn't open til December.
and CSR is finishing up minor rehabs on some of their rooms.
and Contemporary has all the Shade of Green guests.
And Oct is a big convention month.

So It sounds worse than it really is.

ALSO......the media event is Oct 8-9 for Mickey's Philharmagic and Mission:space. I am sure lots of folks invited to that event will stay the weekend.

As for the character meals....they have closed a couple of those since last year, so that means that the ones left will be more crowded.

Yes, Columbus weekend is more crowded than other fall weekends, but I wouldn't worry about it.
