Anyone else catch a stomach bug from Mickey??

OMG I cannot believe you are on Disboards and posted about this!! What are the chances!!!!

WE are the family you booted off of Magical Express just after 11am on Saturday December 11th. I happened to just post our story (on Transportation board) and someone linked me to your post.

Your family had like 8-10 people and at least ten MASSIVE suitcases. You knew you were booting us and the 2 other families. You looked right at us and said something about "long lines". We had waited in a long line too, to check our luggage. we just planned ahead appropriately

I cannot believe you happen to be on this board. what are the chances? You didn't give a rat's butt that you booted us. you didn't think about the chain reaction you'd started?

And no other bus arrived!! How can you claim one did when you were merrily on your way? After 30 minutes we politely insisted that the GF get us a taxi immediately and pay for it, which they did.

My complaint was with the ME driver, who should have made you take a taxi. You misread the instructions! Haven't you figured that out yet? You have to check your luggage EARLIER than the ME time. they are separate. think of all the security screening luggage goes through.

wow, I cannot believe this family is on disboards too. and based on my limited exposure to you and your huge over-packing clan, I am not in the least surprised you are posting that Mickey made your child sick.

For the record, we loved all of the parks and the Cast Members are so great!!!!! We did experience problems with the resort monorail all week and of course the Magic Express slap-down. But the parks are so great, my kids had a blast!!!!

Dawnmommy, I hope you had a great trip with your family. Sorry that you were booted off the bus. I don't know if I could have kept my temper!

This thread is FASCINATING! I can't believe all the twists and turns!

For the first time in 26 family trips to WDW, we have just purchased WDW's vacation insurance. My question would be, if something like this (vomiting, etc.) happens to my family on a travel day...how would the insurance play into that? I don't want to get on a plane if anyone of is is throwing up! This is on of the reasons we decided to go with the insurance this time! So, can anyone tell me how WDW's insurance would help you to stay until you are well enough to travel?

Honestly, I am starting to wish it would be mandatory to purchase insurance so that people don't feel like they have no option but to get on a plane when their kid is puking!

When we took our first Disney Cruise this past January, everything went well. The day that we were to go home, we visited Kennedy Space Center before our later flight out that day. My oldest came started throwing up on the way to the airport. He was literally laying on the floor in the airport. I told my husband that we absolutely could not fly with him in this condition. My husband and my two other children went ahead while we checked into an airport hotel for the night. These things unfortunately happen. I wanted to stay in Florida longer but not under those conditions! Who knows what he had or where he got it. The truth is, the norovirus can happen anywhere there are a large number of people in a particuliar space. Cruise ships, theme parks, schools, nursing homes etc..I did the best that I could in the situation that I was in with my son. Did I want to eat the extra $$ for the night in a hotel? No. I just know that there was no way that he was in any shape to travel that afternoon.

My family had the Norwalk virus a few weeks ago, but thankfully a good month after my daughter and I went to DisneyWorld. Anyway, my pediatrician told me you shed the bacteria in your stool which causes the virus for up to 28 days after you have it. So I guess wipe down the potties well, right??

We usually try to thoroughly clean the rooms before we let our kids in. Including the toilets, sinks, tubs, phones, remotes, door knobs and light switches. We have hand sanitizer and clorox wipes. But there is only so much you can do.

I used to work at the Y as a babysitter. I had to quit bc my 2 kids spent 4 months with stomach viruses. People felt it was more important to work out then to keep their sick child at home. So I can only imagine what people will do when they are shelling out big $ for a vacation. We actually had 1 mom who brought in her sick school age child for babysitting because the child was too sick to be in school. Hello? I work at a preschool/Kindergarten now and you should see how hard it is to get a hold of parents when their kids are sick. I've left msgs on cell phones, work phones, home numbers. Actually had one mom say "Oh, I think we have a bad connection...click" and she came to pick him up at normal time.

What about the people who end up sick who also have jobs, families, limited budgets, etc.? There is ALWAYS an alternative...some may inconvenience *you*..others inconvenience *everyone else*......

Sorry, I can't lose my job for others on the plane. :confused3 Take some medicine and get to the airport early and take things as easily as possible.

There's germs everywhere, all the time. Do you know how many people are sick on planes? People business trips, connecting flights, etc. As long as people wash their hands and take precautions they will normally be fine. I can't think of any time I actually picked something up from going on a plane - something I do quite often.

As to the OP - WOW.
