HI DIS friends,

From time to time, I've seen this commercial where a man in the suit is jumping off a cliff and then lands safely with parachute to an Isuzki-sp? car.

What bothers me is the commercial reminds of the painful and sad day of Sept. 11 at the World Trade Center. :(

Am I the only one that is bugged out by this commercial?

It doesn't bother me, but I find it really annoying...
Like, his wife is obviously dressed to go to work...does she jump off too? And how the heck does he get back up anyway? :confused3

Why does it bring back those memories?

It doesn't bother me.

It doesn't remind me of 9/11. I wondered how he gets back up at the end of the day too.

No not at all.

I have wondered the same, how does he get back up at the end of the day. No the commercial doesn't bother me a bit.

I think it's stupid, but it doesn't bring back those memories.

I don't get the connection between skydiving in a suit and 9-11 at all

Think it's one of the dumbest commercials I've ever seen but it doesn't bother me or upset me.

I am bothered by teh commercial--but not for that reason.

I wonder how the heck he gets his car parked in the canyon and makes it back home. Oh--and when he walks out of the door--it's obvious he's not wearing as much gear as necessary to complete the jump--but then when he jumps he has got all the gear.

I think it is far enough from 9/11 for it to be a non-issue in terms of respect for victims. The only ones that I can understand having a problem with it are those who believe it possible that there loved one died that way. Other than that--4.5 years is too far for it to be a controversy for the mainstream population IMHO.

(and for those wondering the connection--I believe OP is referencing where people did opt to jump out of the WTC b/c there was no other way out).

Me either. :confused3

The only thing that bugs me is that I wonder how he gets back up ?? AND my DH wants to know why i'm not standing by the door looking perfect in the morning saying goodbye ! :teeth:

Hello,

In answer to the connection of the man in the suit and 9-11 is that I remember seeing (on live TV) men in suits falling or jumping from the World Trade center. That image just deeply sadden me.

I guess I'm a rare bird for being bothered by this commercial.

I am glad I am not alone in wondering how the heck he gets back home every night and what the point is of not just finishing the stupid drive to his house. If it was that inaccessible how the heck did the realtor show it to them???

I've never made the connection between 9-11 and the parachute jump. I just think it's kind of a silly commercial.

Correct me if I am wrong--but it is a base jump....so he falls for quite a while before opening the chute. For someone who may have been watching on 9/11 when people were jumping to there deaths...while that connection didn't pop in my head when I saw the commercial...when I read the OP, that was what I understood them to mean.
