I have been watching now for 3 1/2 hours as milllions of Americans of all ages have marched down 7th Ave. in NYC past Madison Square Garden expressing their dissent of the Bush Administration and the occupation of Iraq and standing up for their country.

There have been a few nimrods who think it's about them getting on TV rather then a serious expression of free specch and democracy, but the vast majority have been angry, determined, peaceful, and dignified.

Anyone interested might want to turn it on. . as I said, it's been going on since noon EST. and there's no end in sight.

I think it's a very beautiful thing to see and I'm very proud of my country, and my fellow citizens, today police and protesters included. . :) :) :)

Well you know I'm watching, LOL! :p and you know I can't stop crying. :o LOL! It's such a beautiful sight to me, to see all those thousands and thousands and thousands of people, marching peacefully for what they believe in, mostly shouting to stop the war. Ack! Happy tears! LOL! :sunny: It's just absolutely beautiful! :sunny:

Millions of people. . over fours hours now with still no end in sight. .

To quote a group that just went by: "This is what Democracy looks like. . "

:) :) :)

Wonder if Mista Bush is watching? ;)

Millions seems to be a slight exaggeration, but I must admit that over here in Europe today's protest in NYC give us new hope, that America and the world will see a change for the good on November 2

Hey Viking! :)

Are you guys getting a live feed of this over there in Germany?

:)

You know? this is the beautiful thing about the America. While I dont neccesarily agree with them, I applaud their actions anyway.
Thats the great thing about this amazing country! :)

willy, it was indeed a beautiful sight. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! THE PEOPLE, UNITED, WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED!

C-Span= "Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network"

Dan, it might have even been a trillion. . .

;)

Okay, it's dificult to guess the amount; they said they were expecting 200,00 and it exceeded that. . . my guess is that the official total will be "a ****load" . . .

:earseek:

Seriously, it was an amazing and impressive sight with no violence and only a handfull of arrests. . much credit to the citizens voicing their 1st Ammendment rights and to the NYPD for the great job they did! :) :)

I think the ones looking for trouble will wait for "prime time" viewing. :(

So, you are saying NYPD is doing better than Daley's shock troops did here in '68, Willy??

we've got apolice force of 35,000 -- and most of them are in the vicsinity of the Garden these days. even the captains put on their uniforms and went out on patrol. even special victims unit, narcotics squads, etc. are in uniform and on patrol. we've also got the MTA police force and the Port Authority police force, National guard troops and NYState troppers. even the cops believe it's overkill. do you really think ANYHTING will get out of hand here?

Brings me back to my college days..... marching through the streets of Northampton MA singing... "All we are saying, is give peace a chance" ( thank you John Lennon)
