I just don't want to become one of those people obsessed with getting a FP+ to see Anna and Elsa (and usually disappointed, it seems) so I don't want to see the movie until AFTER we go to WDW. And although we don't have young children ourselves, our DGDs are going with us, and I called and begged their parents not to take them to see it beforehand. Otherwise, I'm afraid they'd just be getting set up for disappointment. Fortunately, the girls are preschool age and they're more into Disney Junior. Also, by seeing the movie beforehand, we'd probably be buying every "Frozen" souvenir we saw. And no doubt that's a lot! Maybe I'm jaded, but I just feel that all this hype for movie-related stuff has turned me off to the movie. Anyone else?

No.

Nope--- we had such a blast at "Frozen Fun" last month that we booked another trip to go back on 8/28

Excitement in meeting characters comes from knowing who they are and have an emotional attachment to them. I can't imagine doing what you're planning.

Absolutely! My DW and I watched it just to see what the hype is all about, but we are 100% not allowing our DS to see it till after we're home. No desire to get up in a frenzy.

I think Simba's Mom doesn't want them to see the movie hoping they will not be asked, aka pestered, to see the characters so therefor not have to worry about a FP+ or a 3 hour stand by line.

Don't worry...maybe you'll be like us, who watched the movie so we'd be prepared for our trip, and didn't think it was anything special at all.

Exactly! We plan to stand in line to see Mickey, Sophia, Belle, and who knows who else. We also have a character meal planned, and we're hoping we can get ADRs for another one we want to do. But no 3 hour line for Anna and Elsa.

Couldn't you just allow yourselves to see what's a very good Disney movie but not tell the kids that there's a meet and greet with Anna & Elsa?

Actually I hadn't seen it when it was first out, but later caught it at a discount theater, because I wanted to know what all the fuss was about when I do get to WDW.

I wasn't impressed with the movie either but little kids might be. I agree with the PP - why not see the movie but don't mention the meet and greet?

Agree--- my DD8 loves the movie, and the characters--- not just A and E, but the disney characters in general--- but she also understands that there is a good chance that she won't get to meet them, and she's fine with it- she had a teacher years ago that would always tell here class- "You get what you get, and you don't get upset"

If she does pout about something like not seeing the characters, or buying a certain item, we remind her about the thousands of other kids that would love to be in WDW right now, but can't be, due to various reasons-

There are a ton of other "Frozen"- related things to enjoy in Disney right now that don't cost a penny-- :)

Not sure you have to worry too much. Its been out of the theaters for months. So they would have to buy it or get it from Red Box, Netflix or On Demand. I also haven't seen it advertised for awhile.

Take her to Hollywood & Vine for breakfast or lunch - she'll love it! Sophia the First is a huge preschooler hit, as well as Doc McStuffins. Jake and Handy Manny come to your table, too. And, every 30 minutes or so 2 or so of them plus a couple of CM dancer/singers do a song/get up and move thing with the kids. Its great - best character meal I think.

You can only do what you can. If she doesn't know Frozen, she'll still have a great with the characters she does know. And, a reason to beg her parents to take her back?

DD was probably one of the last of her friends to see the movie - wasn't trying to keep her from it but frankly I thought it was just another Disney movie like all the others so I was in no rush but it's all her friends talked about so we broke down and got it for her on DVD. IMO it's one of the best movies Disney has come out with in quite some time and I can't wait to see her excitement when she finally gets to see them.

:thumbsup2 DS3 has seen so many Disney movies including Frozen (we saw it in theater and purchased on first day on DVD), but there was never any frenzy to meet specific characters or ride certain rides. We also watched many youtube videos of the attractions.

There were a few merchandise stands that caught his eye. "Ooh! Nemo!" He would want to walk over to them. I just keep a firm "Oh yes, there is Nemo! We will have to try to come back later." And since we are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fans, any time he saw Mickey he called it out. Seeing girls in the princess dresses got a "Mama, princess."

He really wanted to ride Dumbo because he enjoys the movie, but we ran out of the time. No tears. No regrets. There is sooo much to do and see. You also have to just sit on a park bench and enjoy the view.

Characters we met: Mickey (Sorcerer), Green Army Man, Woody, Mickey & Minnie (adventurers @ AK), Daisy Duck, Donald Duck and all the friends in Crystal Palace. We also walked by and saw Jake (the NeverLand Pirate) next to Sofia, Dug and Russell.

At the end of the day, we did purchase a couple of souvenirs to open in our room. Nemo was most important (out of all the characters) so we spent $15 on Nemo bath toys.

There is something about this movie that seems to bring people together--- all you need to do is experience the "Sing-Along" and/or the dance party @ DHS to get a true sense of it!

I think it is sad... and no offense... a bit selfish. You dont want your granddaughters to fall in love with a movie because you dont want to bother with it.

I think it's a great movie. One that everyone can enjoy and it sends a very positive message to young girls (and boys too), that stories about girls can be good, that girls can save themselves. We need more female centered stories. I for one loved the movie. We saw it the day it came out (Thanksgiving) and have been enjoying talking about its messages with our daughter ever since.

No, we didn't wait. I don't see any reason to think that waiting would make something better.

It's possible to like Frozen and not care about seeing A&E. My daughter and youngest son love Frozen. We act it out and sing the songs at least once a week. (I get to be Anna, daughter is Elsa and youngest son is Olaf. Older son rolls his eyes and tries to not let me see that he's actually laughing at our theatrics). However, my daughter has zero issue in seeing A&E because she doesn't want to wait in a long line and doesn't think it's worth a FP+ when there are all those rides. She even said, "who would use a FP just to meet characters?" She's 8 and loves Frozen. She'll be dressing up as Elsa for Halloween. But she actually does not want to meet the characters since it's not worth it to her for what she would have to give up instead. As for merchandise - she has absolutely nothing so far. Her Halloween costume is actually an Elsa-ish dress, a regular dress I found at a discount store.
