Anyone else afraid of park crowds on 10/01, now?

I planned my trip before the announcement of the new celebration. Now, I'm scared that there will be media hype that first day at WDW and DL. Also, Disney may be televising guests who get wishes, etc. More people may come that first day, too. Does anyone know yet what's going to happen on that first day at the parks for the new celebration?

:crazy2: :scratchin :rainbow: :dumbo: :earseek:

Hmmm, my first parks day is October 1st. We arrive the evening of September 30th... I had not given any thought to it being busier.

No matter what the day of the week or how busy it's supposed to be, I cannot stop myself from NEEDING to spend the first morning of my trip at Magic Kingdom!!!

I'll just go early as planned, ride whatever I can get on before it gets packed, and then spend my time simply enjoying the fact that I AM AT THE WORLD!!!! :wizard:

But I'm guessing that most of the people who are going to be at WDW the first week of October had already planned on being there before they announced the Million Dreams Promo... :confused3

I am not worried. I think Free Dining would bring in the crowds more than "Million Dreams" and they extended the booking period on that- so I am figuring they didn't get as many bookings as they hoped for during the original booking period.
Do you know for sure it starts Oct.1? I heard 'starting in October' but I didn't know if it started on the 1st.

I was there on May 5, 2005 for the start of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. We stayed about a week after checking in May 5. I didn't notice mega crowds for that one - and I was concerned ;) - so hopefully there won't be a noticable crowd for the kickoff of this newest celebration.

Have fun!!

Is this celebration at all 4 WDW parks or just the MK? The 1st of Oct is a Sunday so it might be crowded then but hopefully during the rest of the weekdays it will not be too crowded.
We plan on having a great time no matter what, but smaller crowds would sure help!

I dont know that it will make a difference, I think most people arent going to be swayed into making decisions to invest in an expensive trip just because of the 'contest' afterall do you think people are going to drop several grand on a trip to disney on the slim chance of being one of the lucky chosen few??? sure you might see a bit more traffic than normal from people who live in the area, but in general I believe the people will go because they planned to go already not because of the new campaign.

That's our first day too, and our trip doesn't officially start until we walk up Main Street to the castle, so it's unavoidable :dance3: Let's look on the bright side - maybe they'll be giving away tons of wishes because it's the first day :smooth:

I didn't think it could be possible, but I am even more excited about going during this time than I was before. We arrive Sept 30, so we get free dining, the last day of The Happiest Celebration on Earth and now this. :cool1:
If we don't get anything while we are there, it will not matter. As much as I hate it, I am actually wishing the summer away so we can go.

We arrive on Sept. 30, too and Oct. 1st is our magic kingdom day. I was just talking to my sister earlier today and we're anticipating some kind of big to-do at MK that day. We were wondering if they were going to change the castle overnight- just hopefully not into a big cake.

My last day is October 1st, which was not planned but I think will work well. I have 9 days to enjoy the park before all the hoopla but will still be there to see it.

We are arriving on Sept. 30 and have already planned our first day at MK on Oct. 1st. I am concerned as we have ADR's at Crystal Palace that morning at 9:15. With all the planned activities I wonder if we will have any problems entering the park that morning.

we're also another going to WDW starting 9/30 - we were planning TL already that day as we're going to US Horror Nights that night so I'm not too concerned.

giving y'all a heads up.........fall break starts that week here in santa rosa county fl. We are arriving the 29th and leaving the 6th. I personally cant wait for all the excitement!!!!
