For anyone who's been to the Hilton Head Resort lately, did you eat at a SERG-managed restaurant and charge your meal with a credit card? I read somewhere (maybe the "Island Packet" newspaper) that they were charging a surcharge now to people who pay with credit cards. Was wondering if that was the experience of patrons.

We ate at several in Jan and always paid with a credit card - no surcharges.

We ate at multuple sergs in 1st weekend of march and paid with disney visa. Did not see a surcharge added?

We always ask for the disney discount of 10% at serg as well.

I didn‘t realize you could ask for a disney discount at the SERG restaurants! Do you need to show your DVC membership card to get it or is there a SERG group card? We will be in HH in early May and will most likely go to Poseidon.

We just got back today from our trip. All of the Serg restaurants had an option to pay with cash. Looking at the menu prices plus adding 8% tax resulted in the balance due, and then the pay with cash was right under that and was several dollars less. I always pay with a credit card to earn cashback, but when I figured it, it was better to go with the cash price. We paid cash at both Skull Creek Boathouse and Frankie Bones. Looking over the receipts right now, I realize I could have probably paid cash at Guiseppi's and One Hot Mama's, but those were takeouts and I wasn't offered a cash price. But I'm just now noticing that option at the bottom of those receipts, too.

We just show the room key and ask for the Disney discount at every SERG.

Thank you for this explanation.

It's not just SERG restaurants, there are others as well. I know the French Bakery at Shelter Cove gives the discount as does the Old Oyster Factory. There are quite a few listed on the DVC website, but we usually just ask when we are at the restaurant.

And for what it's worth, when we stayed at a Marriott on HHI we also got a 10% discount at many restaurants (including the SERG group) by showing our room key.

The Serg loyalty program ended in Feb. Said they had to many technological complications. They replaced it with a Serg community strong VIP card that costs $300 a year. I have included pics of the emails that have been sent to me about this program.

Ok…does this mean no Discount for showing your room key?

I just checked the DVC website and they no longer list the SERG restaurants as offering the discount. That's a shame!

It used to be the case.
Now they offer a discount for cash as @DisneyStarWisher explained above.

You still get the 10% discount. You also get a discount for paying cash.

Pens Fan, I assure you there is still a 10% DVC discount. I received a paper about it at check-in and all Serg restaurants gave it.

Thanks! That's good to know! We really enjoy several of the SERG restaurants, and getting the discount has always been a nice perk.

YES! They are doing this. They don’t tell you about it. The only reason we found out is because we went to guisseppi’s to get pizza for pick up. When we paid, the cashier said the amount, I handed over cash, and the cashier said, oh cash is ___ . And it was a lower amount.

It’s not just the Serg restaurants doing the cash discount. I meant to add earlier that Cahill’s Market in Bluffton also gave a cash price.
