How has flooding affected crossing Mississippi River from Missouri? Will be driving soon through NE Arkansas through Memphis en route to Orlando. Open to other options though. According to state highway info, all major routes open. Help! Is it safe to travel through this week? Thanks.

Do you know what specific interstate you are taking? I am not sure where you are coming in from MO, but West Memphis, Arkansas (which is right over the bridge and state line) looks fine. The bridge seems to be operational to me. I live in Memphis and have not heard anything about it closing since the river crested weeks ago (and believe me it would be big news since many people commute back and forth). A lot of the water has receeded and is flooding into Louisiana now. I also looked on TDOT and they did not show it still being flooded if you are coming specifically through Arkansas and Memphis. If you take a short cut and by-pass Arkansas then you might run into some flooding trouble as just North of Memphis has some roads still flooded. If you are taking the route that I think you are (AR to Memphis to MS onto 78 down through AL and so on) then you should be fine.

Always google TDOT and that should help. :)

Did TDOT, but like to hear it from the source. Route: 63/412AR to 55 Memphis, then to 78. Used to go another way, but Cairo Illinois is apparently flooded. Thanks so much for your help.

I live in the Memphis area. While the Mighty Mississippi is still on flood alerts, the bridges (both old and new) are running fine, and I don't think you'll have any problems thru here. Have a safe trip!

The road trip was great. You were both right. The roads/bridges were just fine both ways. Thanks again.
