We have just about decided to drive for our trip in June. Our kids are 12 and 15 and we have a very comfortable mini-van so I'm thinking we can handle this, right?
I would love to hear from anyone who has made this drive. What route did you take? Where did you stop? What's there to see and do on the way? Any words of warning?
Thanks!

That's a big help!
Anyone else?

But got a great deal on airfare & figured it just wasn't worth wasting 2 (or more) vacation days on the road, each way, not to mention hotel & gas costs there & back. Would much rather be spending that time at WDW! :p We have never made the drive from D/FW to Florida, but I have driven from D/FW to California, and I can give you my opinion of that trip in two words....NEVER AGAIN.

I keep planning on driving but airfare always comes through for me. We even bought a new Yukon XL w/ TV/VCP w/ the intention of driving but never had to.
I historically have never paid over $130.00 RT NS from DFW to MCO except this year. End of the month we are paying $158.00. That is the most ever.
Last Oct (i.e 1 month after 9/11) there were 6 of us who had tickets ($112.50 RT NS on Delta) but at the last minute my DH was worried about being there for 2 weeks w/out a car. So, DH and DMIL drove down w/ our 2 YO DD and our 6 YO DD, my DM and I flew. We separted the kids so that if anything happened to either group there would be another set to raise the other child.
Now, once again, we are planning on driving down in June and stopping off for a night or so at Pensacola coming and going. we'll see if that actually happens.
We were thinking about driving in DL in a couple of years. Was the drive THAT bad?
