Anyone Drive From DL to Vegas?

Sorry to hijack, but we are doing Vegas/Henderson to DL on a Sunday. If we leave early in the AM will we miss most of the traffic? Or is it bad all day?

If you leave early (before 10:00) you should be fine. Most people sleep in. It starts to build up mid-day.

Pretend you are trying to get to rope drop. If you must leave on a Sunday or Monday from Vegas, leave at 8am.

we made the drive in May. We left DL about 8pm to make sure to miss all rush hour traffic. We kept up with traffic in the fast lane and made it there in just over 3 hours. Not a bad drive at all with minimal traffic. And I use the word minimal lightly, because off all the stretches of road from Denver to Anaheim (except for in the LA/Anaheim city metro area itself), this was by far the most crowded stretch of road. But it had much less traffic then then when we arrived at 4 in the afternoon!!! :scared1: Although it still moved pretty good.

It would take you longer than that to drive to an airport early, go through security, blah, blah blah. I would just drive it.

We left from an hour and a half north of Las Vegas at 8am California time on Sunday in April, and the traffic wasn't too bad. The time we left at 11am California time was TERRIBLE.

We are doing the Henderson to Disneyland as well our plans are to leave early 6:00 am on a Wendsday. So hopefully it wont take us to long. 2 small kids under 5 so the shorter car trip the better :)

I just want to verify with you guys regarding leaving Vegas. We are leaving on a Monday morning (no holiday) to go to DL. We will be leaving early! I would say between 5 and 6 am. Will that drive into Anaheim be OK?

Funnily enough, you will probably hit LA morning traffic if you leave that early. :upsidedow

from experience, pre 9am starts have had minimal traffic situations. But when heading towards anaheim i have yet to hit any LA style traffic.

We did the drive today, left at around 8am, stopped once for a restroom break, @lenwood for mcdonalds and some gas, @ rancho cucamonga for some pinkberry, then hit remnants of a traffic accident and cleanup of a brushfire and made it to the ramada maingate around 1:15pm.

So about 5 hours with a whole lotta stops and snacks. not too shabby

I am planning a surprise trip for DW 40th in December. First stop will be DL for a couple days and vegas for a couple. Plan on renting a convertible, but it might be too cold.

Thank you for starting this thread! DH and I are planning our first every DL trip in December, and we're planning on renting a car and driving to Vegas mid-week for the rest of our vacation. I never thought to check out any interesting sights on the way!

Calico Ghost Town and Peggy Sue's both sound like cool places, and maybe the Alien Beef Jerky place, too (even though neither of us care for jerky, but the atmosphere sounds neat!).
