Anyone drink green tea?

I will NEVER drink green tea.

It has very very high levels of fluoride.
Then, when brewed with flouridated water, multiply that ten times.

.
Oh that's actually good for me then-my area of NJ has no flouridated water, so I can use the extra fluoride!

I love green tea. I drink it with Equal.

Chai is simply Indian tea. There are many variations. I make mine at home from scratch, that way I know exactly what's in it. The main spice is cardamom. Other spices are cinnamon, ginger, anise, peppercorns, masala spices, clove, nutmeg - you name it, you can stick it in there. I make mine with darjeeling tea, skim milk and honey, and whatever spices I happen to have.
And now that I've talked about it, I have to go make some!

Ok, if anyone drank 2 gallons/day of anything they are going to have some kine of problems. I drink two cups in the morning. We have fluoridated water but we drink water from our reverse osmosis system so that takes the fluoride out so I should be fine.

Tea Council of the USA

Statement Regarding Research Conducted at Washington University on Skeletal Fluorosis and Instant Tea

Issued January 26, 2005

...

Based on the preponderance of evidence from research as well as the position of leading U.S. health organizations, the Tea Council of the USA feels confident in assuring that, when consumed as part of a healthy diet, tea poses no health risks, ...

I would remind everybody to consider the source here. (Tea Council of the USA)

This sounds a bit like the cigarette companies denying for years that smoking tobacco was hazardous...

Many people have to be concerned with their thyroids, alzheimers, osteoporosis, etc... Most of us live in areas with highly fluoridated water.

The real facts here regarding fluoride and aluminum in green tea are something that many might want/need to know.

Don't negate the fact that the study was published in the American Journal of Medicine.

I have no feelings one way or the other on this issue, but you have been giving one side of the story and I felt it only fair to quickly point out the fact that there is another.

As an avid tea drinker, to date, with the information you have provided, I am not convinced that anyone should give up tea. However, the information you have provided is interesting.

I drink tea for health benefits. I've done quite a bit of research, too, and my nutritionist encourages drinking it.

I think if the tea is steeped/infused in flouridated water it does make it dangerous plus remember that the tea leaves are natural sources of aluminum and flouride. There are other components found in tea, like caffeine, tannins, and such which can cause problems, too, but tea is like the ying and yang - there is the good and there is the bad. You can get skeletal or dental flourosis, but drinking tea also protects your body, too, as it is a strong antioxidant.

Considering that my Chinese ancestors (and the Japanese, too) have been drinking green tea for for over 5,000 years I will go by that. ;)

I like Stash Green Chai tea and Morrocan Mint green tea. I also like the Republic of Teas Strawberry Green Tea sold exclusively at Harry and David. I add a bit of skim milk to it when I make it hot. With the flavored teas, I find I don't need to add sugar and it doesn't taste a bitter as plain green tea.

I will continue drinking my green tea for now. I will need to see some credible studies done on humans who drink tea to make me stop.

Boy, I wonder how much you have to drink to have these things happen.

I am 42 years old. I have been drinking "regular" tea made with flouridated water since I was about 10 years old. Since I've been an adult, I drink it 3-4 times a day.

My dentist will tell you that I have one of the best sets of chompers going (no cavities) :teeth: . And, as far as I know, my bones are fine as evidenced by my latest Dexa scan.

I'm not disagreeing with some of the data put out here, but I just wonder "how much" is too much?
