Not sure if this is where to ask this, but has anyone done the pirates dinner adventure? What is the deal with the restaurant.com certificate? has anyone used it?

TIA

I wouldn't go for any discount. The food was terrible and the show was just ok. They make you stand in a room for 45 minutes before the show even starts and give you corn chips, ugghh.
I don't understand how this show still exists in Orlando......

There's another thread here that got alot of thumbs up for this. we went last fall with a restaurant.com certificate. We were able to use it to get 1/2 off three people but then they talked us into the "VIP" seating and we paid about $15 PP extra for this. DD (8) REALLY like the show. DH has said he will not go another dinner show in Orlando unless it's Disney. I thought it was OK. I would not do the VIP again, though. You're definitely going for the entertainment as the food IMO leaves a bit to be desired. Don't plan on it filling you up.

I have agree with this poster. The set is amazing but they do not empty and clean the water so it smells very musty and mildewy. The actors are good eye candy but their acting is stilted and the way the set is designed, it can be hard to follow the action when your pirate isn't directly involved. The food was pretty nasty, especially the shrimp. They do have a sort of pre-show but there is very very limited seating in the area where it takes place so you do have to stand for quite a while before you enter the theatre.

However, children do seem to like the show because of the audience participation. So if you can get really really cheap tickets, it might be worth it.

scroll down and read the previous thread. Several of us gave it a good review. We went a few years ago and had alot of fun. Kids loved it. It was bright, colourful and had lots of action. They put the kids in costume at the end to join in the show. I really don't recall the food but I certainly don't recall it being bad. We had alot of fun.

My Dh and I went and he was chosen as one of the participants. The pre-show is very long and can be boring. The food was ok but nothing I'd pay good money for. When the time came for my DH to participate, he was on the other side of the ship (which is in the middle of audience) and I never even saw him do his act so I couldn't take pictures. We found it very hard to follow and very tedius at times. We didn't pay for the tickets. We won them and I'm glad we did because I would have felt ripped off if I had paid.

IMO - unless you get an extremely good deal, I'd skip it and go see something else.

We did it on Friday Dec 10th and LOVED it! I got the 1/2 price tickets - so it was a good deal. The food was ok, nothing fancy, but DH & DS enjoyed the chicken which was plain, but good.

We did not arrive as early as the website suggested, probably got there about 20 minutes before the show - just enough time to get my DS's face painted and check out the "museum" we took some funny pictures in there - I am going to try and add one to my signature line - but dont know if it will work. Since my DS actually believes he is a pirate, it really was the perfect event for us. Also, it was not a sold out crowd, so, there was lots of interaction with the actors as well. We were seated in the Green section -which was one of the first ones seated so our waiting was really a minimum. The show moved quickly with lots of acrobatics and fighting. My DH & DS have decided that we will definately attend next year as well. Oh, and for you ladies -eye candy - who doesnt love men in tights?? LOL.

We paid the xtra $15 for the VIP seating upgrade and that was well worth it. I got to be in the show and so did my DS3 - it was the high point of his life. He was chosen to be sworn in as a pirate, and as the littlest guy up there, he stood in the front of the group of kids and had everone in stiches. He also had a short conversation with the Captain prior to leaving the ship. He has not stopped talking about it since we got home.

The rest of the show was pretty good, I did not notice the musty water smell that was mentioned in some of the other posts, service was fast, bathrooms were clean, it is a bit loud, but thats what we expected with cannon fire nearby.

We had a great time, and will do it again next year!

Glad you enjoyed it, Paula. My kids had a great time there as well. Its great that your DS got to be involved, I'm sure he'll remember that for a long time.

Our family has been there twice. Our most recent visit was in August and my boys had a great time. My boys love anything to do with pirates so for our family it was a good choice. The food was so-so and the show was a bit hard to follow at times but they still talk about some of the things that happened. I don't know that if it was just up to me if I'd go, but for my boys it was great.

We did the show two years ago. The show was great and the kids liked it.
One downside: Appetizers. I was expecting something nice like a hot antipasto or shrimp cocktail (being a nautical show), but they put out a big bowl of pasta salad, buffet style.
The photo with a pirate was a nice touch. If you have kids, give it a try.
