I need advice and/or suggestions from anyone who has let their kids do the Pirate Cruise from the GF boat dock. DD is 7 and DS is 5. We'd all like to know more about it. Anyone done this before?

we did it several times, when my eldest was 4 and 5. It is a lot of fun-the kids go on a scavenger hunt, play pirate games, etc. Your kids are a good age for it-it was one of the highlights of our trip. enjoy.

Our boys were 5 and 7 when they did it. They had a great time. They love scavenger hunts at home so doing one in Disney was a real treat.

i would like to do this for my 7ds, i dont think his 16 and 18 brothers will do this, lol, where do i call for it ? or do i just do it when i get there, first time staying on dwp, with 6 kids i would like them each to do something :love1:

You need to call for dining reservations. It fills up very quickly so call on the day that reservations open. I can't remember if it was 60 or 90 days out. I found this harder to get into than CRT. LOL

there's also a new pirate cruise that leaves from beach or yacht club-you might want to ck into that one when you call too. There's been other posts about the new cruise, if you do a search you can probably find lots of info on it.

Good thread. I've heard about the cruise but had some reservations when I read that it was for kids only (mine will be almost 5 when we go) and I have some reservations about him being on his own with a bunch of older boys. He is well socialized and attends a day care most days but... The funny thing is I don't have any reservations about leaving him with a resort babysitting club. He loves pirates though! Any reassuring words?

You can call 90 days out. It can be hard to get. We tried for our Nov trip & couldn't get it so I got it for an Augst trip the next year. He really loved it. There is an age limit I think it is 9 or 10. They give you a PB & J uncrustable and you got from the GF marina to the other deluxes and go on a "treasure" hunt. You also get a juice box and some gummy bears or worms or something. he got a really cute Pirate bandanna with Muckey ears on it (see pic)Pirate bandanna See WDW August album cover

Are there girls that do this too? Everything I'm reading is about boys going on the cruise. My DS, 6, and my DD, 4 1/2, want to do it, but I don't want to send my DD on there with a bunch of older boys. What do you think? :confused3

There were several girls when my boys went. Both of the boat chaperones (lifeguards) were women.

I signed my 5 year old daughter up for it for May she is really looking forward to it. I think she will have a great time. Traci

My 5 year old DD did the Pirate Cruise in December and loved it! However ... there were a lot of younger kids on board. I would say that anyone over 7 would be pretty bored.

Here are some pictures:

my DD8 is signed up for april...do you really think she will be bored? the age limit goes up to 10....and I know she really wants to do this....

My 5 year old DD was on the older side of the kids on the cruise. Honestly, I didn't think that many of them were 4 years old and potty trained they were so little.

Thanks for the additional information. I feel better about this cruise and will try to get a reservation. ::yes::
