Our boys are signed up for the GF Pirate Cruise. Has anyone done this and what did the parents do while the kids were out?

My daughter LOVES the Pirate Cruise. SHe is signed up to do it again in February. It was her #1 of must-dos we let her pick for this trip (the others being Kid's Fishing Around the World and the Princess Breakfast at Epcot). Since the Cruise is at 9:30 we have a 10am PS for the Kona Cafe to have Tonga Toast. We jump on the monorail and make the trip around, eat Breakfast and then just monorail back and walk the grounds of the Grand Floridian until she is back. Sinced we have 2 hours to kill it forces us to slow down a little!! :wizard:

Your kids will love it!!!!

We just went to the Grand Floridian Cafe and enjoyed some coffee, when my 6 year old nephew experienced this pirate cruise. I can't believe he is 11 now :earseek:

He loved it!

DS just did this last Monday and loved it! We also ate breakfast from the snack bar outside and then we went to a nice patio area overlooking the beach. DH read his book while I read the newspaper. While we were there, we saw 2 wedding parties. We also looked around the hotel for a little bit to see Christmas decorations and the Gingerbread House. It was probably the only time I had to relax the whole vacation. I think next time I might get a facial at the Spa.

Thanks for the great suggestions, all of you. BTW, what is Tonga Toast?

Tonga Toast is kind of like French toast...banana stuffed sourdough rolled in cinnamon sugar. It is fabulous...very sweet and it is hard to finish a whole serving. It is a tradition for me & my husband to get Tonga Toast every trip. Try it...you may like it!!

My neice and nephew did the pirate cruise on Thanksgiving morning a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. My sister and I (we weren't staying at the GF) enjoyed looking around at the resort, we did some shopping there as well. You can always boat on over to MK if you're going to the park that day anyway and do a little Main Street shopping or nibble on some candy or baked goods there. I do know that the kids were a little later than we anticipated, but they were so grinning from ear to ear about everything.

You can also take the boat over to the Poly from the GF too for some resort touring, shopping, of a cup of coffee at Kona's.

The kids will have a great time. My 5 year old nephew wore his pirate hat all Thanksgiving day and enjoyed all the CM's asking him about the treasure hunt!

My wife got a massage at the GF Resort & Spa and I just relaxed in our room at the GF and enjoyed being alone! Peace and quiet for a couple of hours is hard to find!

My daughter has done the Grand Floridian's Pirates Cruise for quite a few years now. She loves it (and the other GF children's events -- the Wonderland Tea Party and the Grand Adventures In Cooking Class). I wrote about her experiences last year for the first time. Please click here to view that trip report (just look for the post on that page entitled, "Grand Floridian Day Three, Part 1"). Also, please click here to view some photos of the event.
